Identify a glamour

A friend sent me a screenshot and asked me to identify the shirt the guy was wearing. I am at a loss, so i thought to ask for help. Im not great with editing images, so ill try describing. If that doesnt work, we'll try to get the picture here. So the model(if the picture had included his name, id have tried to just look him up and ask) is a male(miqo). Shirt is a sleeveless vest, only the bottem buckle is closed. Across the chest is a small strip of camo. Has a spiky pauldron on one shoulder, pauldron with an emblem on the other shoulder. And what appears to be several belts going in opposite directions. Colors in the picture are grey vest, black pauldrons, red and brown(leather basically) belts, and multi-green camo strip - but the picture is of a character not their profile so no idea if any dyes were applied. So item experts, does that sound familiar? The spiky pauldron in particular feels like one i recognize, but im not finding it looking through the market so maybe its a dungeon drop? Or maybe im blind and ive passed over it 6 or 7 times.

Snow, i wasnt at all counting on the description working. But it was(for me) infinitely easier then editing the photo, hosting it somewhere, and linking it in. Tonight after work i was going to do all that stuff if no one figured it out before then.

Iscah, that is almost certainly it. Matches colors and everything. And sure enough, i must have passed over it a dozen times looking at the marketboard. Thanks a ton!

Eorzea Collection isn't any use for looking up glamours unless you happen to see someone wearing the piece you're after - which is pure luck, especially outside of the popular pieces.

It's fine for browsing to get ideas in the first place, but not to identify things from elsewhere.

Garland (not Garlond) Tools only gets you marginally closer in that you could run a search for all shirts and browse through the tiny icons in the results page. To actually get anywhere you need to know the name of either the item itself or a shared model. I found it because I recognised it from the description and I know the name of it already - I just had to pick out the one with the described colour scheme from the shared models list.

It would be great if we had a descriptive glamour search that pins down those details, but as far as I'm aware, there isn't anything like it.

I'm glad to see the problem was solved. One tool I use for looking up the appearance of specific gear pieces is xivstyle.com, It's missing certain items (achievement rewards, some crafted glamour items (mainly glasses/monocles), current end-game armour sets, etc) but overall I've found it pretty useful.

A faster method than looking something up from a picture is just right clicking on a character to examine them and see what gear they're wearing. Mouse over a piece you want to see the glamour of, and after a second or two the name will cycle to the name of the current glamour in use.

And that is 100% what i would have done if i had been there. As i said originally, my friend took a picture with her phone and sent it to me. A badly angled picture that didnt show the guys name or anything i could use to help with the identification. I had a face, a shirt, a little bit of pants, and the tops of some thigh-high boots. She sent me a second picture the same night, but that one had the guys name on it. I actually just sent him a tell and asked him about it. It took a minute to narrow down since i couldnt tell his class from the picture(and of course he had everything at least partly leveled), but we figured it out and i thanked him for taking the time. I also would have considered a lodestone character search, but that would depend on their last logout being as the class with the glamour in question.
