Marketboard PSA

Can’t seem to delete the thread, but despite saying I’m not here to argue seems like people are getting upset over an opinion over a virtual marketboard, but go off.

The bots dominate all areas of the marketboards anyway, on Louisoix they sell everything and are set to automatically undercut within 10 mins anyway.

You think the botters are on the OF? Those players clearly don't care. There is no such thing as market board etiquette. It's a free for all. I'm not advocating for this. This post is just you screaming into air because nothing is going to change.

Uhm, it's a free market, so if somebody undercuts - be that willingly or per accident like in missing a 0 while typing the price - there is nothing others can do about it. Unless you buy the cheap stuff yourself and put it in for a higher price, your hands are tied.

However...

It's kind of naive to expect that everyone who undercuts on MB would also be using this forum.

-A) There are people outside who don't even know this site exists (funfact: I even got once a DPS in a roulette-run who actually thought the FFXIV-reddit-site would be the official forum)

-and B) not everybody who plays the game is capable of speaking English (means: although we Germans have it as a must at school, for example, many of us care not at all for the language).

Depends on the product. As I can only put 20 offers per retainer on the board and also need space in my inventory, I usually aim to sell quick to get rid of it.

I also compare prices. I don't care if the only offer is some stuff you're trying to sell for like 250k if I know people will usually only pay 100k for it (in the past or on other servers). I'll offer it for 100k then even if it means massive undercutting, because I don't want it on the board for weeks until someone stupid enough falls for it (see above).

I got mine, I'm happy with my modest profit.

Don't tell me what to price my items at.

Still smh at the guy who undercut a very rarely sold pet by close to a mil as if a multi-million gil minion that sells like three times a month is gonna turn a quicker sale that way... better off waiting and making the extra mil. You're not broadening your market with that kind of cut :/ it's like some people don't actually wanna make money

The tears caused by mass undercutting are worth far more than gil.

Some don’t. Some are just genuinely there to mess with you. You can sell an item for 150k 8 times in 2 weeks. They come along and craft 50 of them. Fill up their 5 retainers with them and sell them for 45k each. Now 45k might not be enough for your 2/3 sales a week to justify the craft or selling space but to them if they push you out as it’s not worth your time that’s still over 2mil in sales and at 45k they might get 4/5 sales a week and being bots don’t care how long it takes.
You could buy them up but they’ll just craft another 50 when on and delist for the same price and eventually you’ll be out of pocket and stuck with all those items you’ll need to sell at 44,999 -400 tax. And they’ll still be there at 45k when you sell all yours at a loss.
