Gearing questions

Hey, I'm a relatively fresh level 80 and with the next patch on the way I'm not sure exactly what I should be doing with the tomestones I'm earning for stuff.

So, when the next patch hits does the Allegory gear sell for Phantasmagoria tomestones? Do the tomestones I have now get carried over to the next patch, or do they get downgraded? Is saving tomestones to buy gear after the patch a good idea, or is everything going to technically be reset so it won't matter?

The next patch is an odd one, so nothing changes with tomestones.

Ah, so no new ilvls of gear or anything like that being introduced?

I'd imagine Allegory gear won't sell for Phantasma until 5.4, when we also get the next crafted battle set and final wing of Eden.

Allegory gear will be upgradable to 500ilv next patch, via coins from Nier or currency from ShB hunt marks, so it's fairly safe to work on that. You get an easy 485 relic for doing the Bozja intro quests. Varis EX gear is the next best thing to Allegory, crafted gear is very cheap and decent and Eden normal gear is decent and easy to obtain.

Phantasmagoria tomes aren't much use, you can either buy temporary filler pieces or buy crafting mats and sell them.

Tomes get downgraded.

When the next tier gets introduced, Allegory will take the role of what Phantasmagoria is now: the lesser-value currency used to purchase gear from the previous ilevel tier.

Duties will give Allegory and the new capped tomes; Phanta will be unavailable and you'll have to trade it in at a 4:1 exchange rate for Allegory.

Deepshadow gear will shift to the Clan Nutsy vendor like the Ronkan gear (originally bought for Goetia tomes) before it.

But right now use deepshadow phantasm gear for a quick fix. Allegory will take slightly longer to buy gear for as it’s capped at 450 per week. Along with Eden 4-8 gear you can use them to level main and alt jobs and swap out as you get more tomes.

Although it's not useful for gear, it is a good idea to save tomes to spend on new crafting materials that will be sold for Allegory at the point when it gets downgraded. They'll be used for new crafted gear also introduced at that point, and it's a mad scramble to buy materials at once.

Yes, but they do get downgraded when the new gear gets introduced. I'd mistakenly said it was 5.3 earlier but I thought I fixed that.
