Newb 70 Dragoon (soon)

Looking for easier way to do rotations for dragoon (even leveling from 70>80 yet don't want/like having too many UNWANTED buttons on my hotbars that will contiunue to hurt my hands (carpal tunnel) i had something like this since makes it easier for me to do opener and rotation (BA+lance charge is in my side bar next to it) but my small brain can't handle anything more than 2 bars atm (this what im using and i feel comfortable with this since i can use mouse to use other rotation :( or should i reroll to another class (like SAM?)

Dragoon alternates between two 5-step combos. You could put them on different bars and have a toggle that switches between them. See my previous post on toggling between two hotbar sets.

Make one bar 1a-2a-3a-4a-4b-switchmodes and the other bar 1b-2b-3b-4b-4a-switchmodes.

For melees, DRG is the slowest out of the 4, the others are much faster.

I highly recommend upgrading to three hotbars and using shift for hotbar 2 and control for hotbar 3, or vice versa. You can also use Q E R for additional keyboard inputs (I unbinded the character rotate buttons (default A/D) and rebinded strafe to A/D (default Q/E). If you have a gaming mouse that has thumb buttons, you can use those for inputs (as well as shift/control variants) as well. You can also use the scroll wheel (M3) for inputs to.

In terms of layout, DRG (like said above) has two 5 step combos, a 3 step AoE combo (which is missing from your hotbar which should ABSOLUTELY be included as soon as possible), 5 jumps (4 of which do damage, High Jump/Jump, Spineshatter Drive, Dragonfire Dive (which is also missing from your bar and is incredibly important), and Stardiver (which you unlock at 80)), and various other oGCD attacks/buffs. I personally set the first three inputs of the two combos (Full Thrust and Chaos Thrust) to inputs 1-3 and shift+1-3 respectively, then put Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust on inputs 4 and shift+4 respectively. AoE combo you can put wherever you like. I tend to put the inputs I use the most closest to the left hand side of my keyboard, so I don't have to reach as far to hit them (which is why I use inputs like Q, E, R, F, etc). Just because this works for me might not work for you, but I ultimately do recommend getting a third hotbar. I recommend trying to have keyboard inputs for your main combos and not relying on clicking them, but if it works for you then who am I to judge.

***Just remember, make sure you add Dragonfire Dive, and the three AoE combo skills (Doom Spike, Sonic Thrust and Coerthan Torment (unlocks at 72) to your hotbar. AoE combos are very important in dungeons (and some other circumstances as well) and Dragonfire Dive is a skill to have as well. Never shy away from practicing new keybindings/hotbar placements or generally practicing a job on a striking dummy, as that will be a very helpful tool and a great indicator for getting a setup that best works for you.

AOE is in my 3rd hotbar just had to press down button only uses for dungeons fights >.< and i can't use keybinding since im been using clicking skills https://www.twitch.tv/drakeosvr/clip...itDiscUncleNox and been useful for me since my brain can't complicate keyboard binding and controllers makes it worst (don't even own one or able to buy it :(

Do you click all your skills? I find stretching beyond key 6 is pretty uncomfortable so have shift and alt modifiers, which doesn't require me to have awkward hand positions and is pretty comfy. Alternatively, you can get a cheapish mouse with 2 extra buttons and use alt+shift modifiers on that too to create an extra 6 keybinds which is also very comfy.

I see in your clip that you still move with WASD so is it possible for you to bind keys around the movement keys (E,R,F,G,X,C etc..) so as to allow your hand to stay uncrippled? I honestly would try finding a way to create comfortable keybinds and get out of the habit of clicking skills where possible.

No cause of my carpal tunnel and also can't react that fast if :(

It might be worth it to try out a controller; I used to play MMOs all of the time, and just jumped back into FF14 on PS4 and absolutely love the controller controls. Admittedly, I'm only level 60, but I feel like I have a decent set up (it could absolutely be better) when it comes to the hotbars and it's fairly easy to get to all of the important skills. It will take a bit to get used to (I'd suggest jumping into PotD maybe to mess around with your setup). I feel like this would especially help your wrists.

Basically, you have 8 abilities (D pad + buttons) for each trigger on the controller (LT/RT or L2/R2), plus you can add double tap hot bars (double tap R2 will give you a different hotbar than single tapping R2), as well as holding both triggers (holding L2 and then holding R2 will give you another hotbar, and holding R2 then holding L2 will give you yet another).

Admittedly, it does make some things a bit more difficult, but you can always switch back to your keyboard/mouse for those things.

Yeah tried controllers but isn't working for me and can't handle keybinding changes :(

The thing is though, you're going to be changing what you're doing anyway.

I'm going to stand by the fact that you should try it out given your issues. Start off slow, either start a new class or run PotD solo just until you start getting used to it. The controls are fairly customizable too, and if you needed to, you can just use it for fights, you can use keyboard/mouse for everything else.

You're not going to instantly understand the controls, it's worth putting the time into it though. I stand by running solo PotD to help with that.

I gave up and went to RDM and prob will pick up WAR/SMN later on
