frequent disconnects
For a few weeks now I have been disconnecting from the game often. I can go hours without an issue and then I'll disconnect 5+ times in an hour, sometimes 10+ times in one evening. Sometimes when I try to log back in it'll start to load me into my last location and then say connection with the server lost and kick me back out to the start menu screen. I just spent almost an hour trying to get logged back in.
It's just getting very frustrating because I can't play the game like I normally would. I still haven't been able to continue working on a Memoria clear because I don't want to drag down a party with my frequent disconnects.
I have no other internet issues. Everything else using internet (youtube, websites, etc) works without issue. And an interesting thing I noted was that during my most recent batch of disconnects just now, when I tried to get onto the forum it wouldn't load while every other thing I tested that uses an internet connection works fine. So this does not seem to be an issue with my internet.
Any help on getting this resolved would be appreciated.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Do you notice any pattern to the disconnections? Does it only happen when you are in certain locations or doing certain actions in-game?
When you disconnect, do you have issues with any other Final Fantasy XIV websites aside from the forums (Mogstation, etc.)?
What troubleshooting have you tried so far in order to alleviate the issue?
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

This have happen to myself lately it was only like mini high latency spikes but now is just totally unplayable a lot of disconnects and I have never had this problem before I tried using my other online games and it wasntt myself but something with just FF XIV.

I'm not sure if other FF/SE websites other than the forum gets hard to access when i'm getting the disconnects. i haven't tried that yet.
It does seem that there is a higher frequency of disconnects in more congested areas of the game. I was logged in all day with no disconnects. Just now I went into Gridania to turn in some gear for seals and disconnected while turning in items. I've also notice I'll get the problems loading back in more if I was in a major city when I disconnected. But that's not always true. I've dc'd in dungeons, while at my house, etc. The disconnects do generally happen more in the evening/night (eastern US timezone).
I'm really not that familiar with steps to take to troubleshoot what's causing the disconnects honestly.

There are also a lot of disconnects that occur when I go to interact with something....like I go to the summoning bell, GC seals trader, etc and it disconnects.

This morning I disconnected while fishing near Costa Del Sol about 9:30am EST. I have not been able to reconnect since then. When I try to log back in it will try to load me into the area and then say connect with server lost.
During this time I tried various SE/FF websites. I cannot get on the forum - it will say timed out - through my PC which is hardwired or on my tablet which is wifi. I can get on the lodestone, SE acct management site and all other non-FF websites. Just not the forum.
I restarted my PC to see if that will help. Now the launcher will not even load. It gives me an error that says
A system error has occurred -2146697211
Https system error
I would really love any help resolving this. It’s greatly affecting my ability to play the game. I’ve not been able to connect for almost and hour now.
(Edit - the launcher now loads without error but still get connection to server lost messages when it tried to load me into the game. And I can I only access the forum on my phone on cellular data)

Good luck! Hoping your issue is just network and not what i'm experiencing.
I've been disconnecting every few min for 2 months now, and getting 90002 errors. Game is completely unplayable. I've spent 20+ hours troubleshooting over the last few weeks, and sent multiple batches of data captured from Wireshark, WinMTR, Tracert, Windows TCP monitor, and many other things, PROVING 100% this issue is a FFXIV bug.
They keep telling me it's an ISP, PC, or local network issue, even though I have concrete data proving otherwise. It's like trying to convince flat earthers that the world is round... No matter how much evidence you put in front of them, they don't believe you.
If I didn't have a house in game and owner of a FC that I'd lose from unsubscribing, I'd unsub in a heartbeat. I've already wasted 2 months of paying and not being able to play.
Again, crossing fingers your issue is actually a network config. Otherwise you're stuck like me.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums,
We apologize for the delay in our response, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
-Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game
If you are having trouble accessing our websites (but, not other websites), we would recommend contacting your ISP and see if they are blocking SQUARE ENIX in their system.
