With all the love for flying: Can we get a flying off option for us land-travelers?

Some of us just simply prefer taking in the sights on the ground, this was duly noted with the addition of the riding maps for extra speed while traveling on the ground.

But with the addition to air travel in the A realm reborn areas might us ground travelers not get some love as well? How about a very easy to implement quality of life option to turn off flying?
I know you've all been there, the moment your mount touches a wall or you get too close to the edge of a cliff your mount starts to fly. After experiences like that it kinda ruins the ground exploration. So how about it, flying off switch in character configuration menu?

You can still travel over land, just make it so you need to tap jump twice to fly. That's basically what you're asking for.

There's flying in the ARR areas? That's news to me.

Yes, I have it set to that but the moment I touch the edge of a mountain, cliff, or any random blockade on the road it sends me into flight mode. It's hard to explain but as someone who makes a conscious effort to only travel by land I run into this all the time. Would be great to get the true ground experience again without having to level an alt to not get the aether currents.

How about going to your character config. menu and set certain option to "manual"?

Flying has basically been an option since it was introduced in Heavensward.

In order to be able to fly, we had to run around the map, finding and touching Aether Current, but also finish certain quests with an Aether Current as a reward. Only when you've collected all of the Aether Currents, are you able to fly. In that retrospect, as long as you don't gather all of the Aether Current, you can "turn off flying" in the expansion area's (aside from Eureka and Diadem). You will automatically unlock flying in Eureka, when you clear a certain story quest in that region. The first version of Diadem had Aether Currents which you needed 3 in order to be able to fly. The recent versions of Diadem removed these, so that players could fly from the get go.

Up until 5.3 you could only walk about in the ARR area's and now (after its release in 2013) they will let us fly in these area's. However, from what i can tell, we won't have to look for Aether Currents, just finish the last quest from the 2.0 MSQ. At that point, you've already visited all of the ARR area's. (^_~ )

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that the game still has ground mounts that can't fly. Why not use one of those?

I have it set that way as well, and only does this if there's no ground to connect with. (Ex. Diadem)

I enjoy ground travel as well, but will likely only use fight to make gathering/meeting up with people faster.

Why don’t the DEVs just make land speed the same as flying speed as long as you unlocked flying in the area.
