Steps:
1. My partner bought us the gold version of the ceremony
2. We both received the armband and went to the required NPC to start the questline
3. NPC in question explains everything about the questline in cutscene
4. Once the cutscene was done the quest didn't get accepted, eventhough i have the armband and enough space in my inventory
5.Talking to said NPC again only gives me the same information again.
