Open world chat channel

Can we please for the love of all that is kupo, can we get a channel in game that people can chat in

No thanks, people trying to socialize in novice network is bad enough.
Having filters is good. Be it filtering by subject, or filtering by zone, it doesn't matter. The last thing I want is unabated streams of consciousness from every player in the server.

Only if I can immediately shut it off. The last thing I would want is Limsa chatter world wide....

Sounds like something spambots would absolutely adore unfortunately enough.

Even the thought of bots enough for me to think thats a baaaaaad idea

We have lots of channels in game that people can chat in. Just ask someone to invite you to a linkshell whose purpose is something you want to chat about, or create your own.

They should create the channel, but by all means give people like yourself the option of muting it at will.

I have seen that type of channel in many games like this and they do fine. Sure there are you share of idiots that will ruin it but thats what mute is for

What is wrong with socializing LOL. I have met life long friends in MMO's.

Because a server wide chat wouldn't be socializing. It would be chaos. Even ignoring an endless stream of bots spamming advertisements, the shitposting would basically be non-stop unless they hired a moderator for it. There would likely rarely if ever be any meaningful conversation of any kind.
