Heavy Shot and Straight Shot

Did Straight Shot used to not be on GCD? Or am I thinking of another skill, or maybe a different class? I thought that one class had a mechanic where a skill could allow a non GCD, though 2.5CD, skill to be useable

Straight shot always was on the GCD.
Maybe you're mixing it with Empyreal Arrow, which used to be a weaponskill oGCD you could use with Barrage before. Now it's an ability.
If it's not that, maybe what you're asking is : was straight shot always usable, then the answer is yes, cause it granted 20% crit. Now it's just a proc from Straight shot.
If it's not that, then I don't know.

I was getting confused with "Bloodshot"(?)
I remember in my head thinking "Ah, so I'm supposed to keep an eye out for this and use it between GCD". Thank you though, I'm a returning, braindead lad, lol

Where did the crit go from Straight Shot? Is there another ability that offers a crit chance now?

It didn't go anywhere.
Bard crit proc-based has been removed.
Now all proc have a 40% to occur upon applying your dot.
