Error 2146697211 - for the first time on pc

Hi, my bf plays ffxiv for quite a while, last night everything worked but today in the morning everytime he tries to launch ffxiv he gets this error -2146697211.
Of course we googled and tried about everything we could but the problem still persists. Any ideas would be more than welcome! :(

This probably belongs in Technical Support rather than general discussion, but people will need more info than that to help you (OS/GPU/is the launcher failing to load, or is it the game when you try to use launcher, steam or normal PC version, ect). Worst case scenario maybe a reinstall if all your drivers are updated and such?

Thank you Im sorry for that, completely new here and just found the technical support thread like half an hour ago, I hope the mods can move this!

I dont know his gpu I just know that it is on Windows 7, he used ffxiv for over a year with no problems, through Steam, he deleted the entire game, reinstalled and still doesnt work, including the mogstation site (whilst for me everything works normal). Ive seen other two users now on technical support that seem to have the same problem since yesterday, Im really wondering what is causing this and if the maintenance will fix it!

Tell him to go through his browser settings and clean his cookies cache. This has potential to be a driver's problem also or maybe directX corrupting itself for whatever reason. As long as computer problems and corrupted files go, I'd say maybe a windows update borked something but since he plays on Windows 7 that might not be the case.

Another thing you could do is Press the Windows key on your keyboard + R, type in cmd > ok, and when the black box shows up, type: sfc /scannow
After that just press enter and the system itself will perform a scan to locate and fix corrupted files. But depending on what exactly is the issue, and if it's a faulty Windows 7 support on SE's end, there's little else to be done.
