Hey guys I'm just coming back from wow and im trying to decide on a job to grind up to 80. right now im thinking im between dragoon, ninja, or samurai. I was wanting to get a general idea which is the more forgiving job with the least amount of button bloat out of these? im still tryin to get the hang of positionals in a fight too so that will take me some time but otherwise im enjoying the game alot! ty for help in advance!

Then you have to play Machinist, it has a very simple skill rotation, lesser skills in that rotation than definetely dragoon, samurai or ninja abd defibetely far more forgiving if you mess that rotation up, than say if you do with a dragoon or samurai, where it means a measurable good decrease in your DPS for a short while
Plus, as ranged dos you have the advantage of always being sble to deal continued damage, even ig you have to dodge aoes, what you can't do as a melee class where your positioning is much more important and this shouldnt be played by insecure players that dont know the battle mechanics of the class and the enemies, unless you want to be permanently rescued by your healers around -

If you're learning, I really think SAM/RDM/BRD/MCH would work with you.
DRG is easy to punish, it's an "on-cooldown" job.
SAM, RDM and MCH are "Resources" based job meaning they build up their gauges and unleash it at the moment they desire the most.
MCH doesn't have many buttons but the most APM.
SAM has a quite high APM but it's a pretty straight forward rotation.
RDM is beginner friendly, not hard to play, little buttons, you basically build up your gauge with spells, go melee once it's high enough then rinse and repeat.
If you're coming back from WoW and are used to WoW proc based job, BRD could do the trick for you. The main goal is to maintain DoTs and to use procs for specific skills. Maintaining procs might require some practice as you may forget it at the beginning.
Ninja, I don't know much after its rework but I think it's still one of the most complex jobs right now. The Mudras are something to get a hang of, then you have your gauge, then maintaining Fûton, then the Trick Attack... Not beginner friendly in my opinion. -

I would say DNC. No positionals, No DoTs to keep track of. No casts times. Can attack while moving and at range. And unless you want to do savage / ultimate fights you don't really need to worry about lining things up and can use your OGCDs at will.

SAM is probably the most versatile. Still complex but not punishing. I personally feel dragoon is easier to play, but with the animation locks and cooldowns it can be more unforgiving. Ninja has been largely simplified, but is still likely the most complex. I enjoy Ninja the most personally, but my guess for you is SAM would be the best choice of those you've listed. You cannot neglect positionals on any melee job tho. SAM loses less direct potency than others, but the bonus effects of its positional indirectly cost quite a bit. That being said all positionals are very very manageable except for fully optimized MNK.
SAM also has a bit more flexibility with builds so you can Skill speed personalize yourself a bit without serious detriment. I don't know Dragoons current BiS metrics, But NIN has one build and one build only (Thats not entirely true but all other builds are extremely unforgiving, more difficult to play, and really just for sadists like myself, and No I wont share my build and the work I've done on it because even I'm not perfect at it and it will destroy newer players.) My point. NIN for all intensive purposes can only be built and played one way or you lose out on alot of dps. -

If you're looking for easy and forgiving jobs, MCH and DNC are your best options. Both are extremely trivial in terms of rotations and have very few buttons. BRD is easy too, but you have a couple of timers to pay attention to.
If you're strictly a melee player, it makes very little difference. MNK is probably the one with the most straightforward rotation, but if you mess it up you loose a lot of damage and it's more reliant on positionals. -

You have 3 songs you'll permanently rotate:
Mage's Ballad increases your party damage by 1%, the DoTs trigger reset to 0 Bloodletter and Rain of Death Cooldowns. Both of them are 15s cooldowns sharing the same cooldown.

At lv80, you get a "Soul Voice Gauge", everytime you get a repertoire, the Soul gauge increases by 5. This allows the use of Apex Arrow that spends all your gauge to deliver a powerfull attack in a straight line.
Other than that, you'll mostly use Heavy shot GCD when you don't have to manage songs/dots. Straight shot has a 35% chance of giving an additionnal effect named "Straight shot ready" that allows the use of another stronger GCD Straight shot
This is the basic mechanics of the job, going too deep at once could be confusing. -
