Tanks should have increased enmity by default.

In random groups, only one off-tank out of ten turns on their enmity stance. And if the main tank dies the boss usually has enough time to kill a DPS or two before OT takes aggro. And as you know, if the boss started casting their buster on the DPS it will go off on the DPS even if the tank takes aggro during casting.

When you try to teach people they should use their stance all the time and use Shirk to get rid of unneeded enmity, they either ignore you or tell you to gfys. And Shirk doesn't even work on the tanks that are not in your group (alliance raids)...

As a lot of you know WoW once had the same mechanic: tanks had to turn on their stances and seals to generate aggro. Blizzard fixed it. So should SE.

There's only one solution to this problem: tanks should generate increased enmity by default. An off-tank without their stance on should be the second in the boss's aggro list right after the main tank, not the last. The stance should be used only for MT/OT rotation.

Let's get rid of the toxic players together. Because this crap makes me angry every time.

Having natural agro gen means tanks will constantly be fighting for agro unless one of them spends the opener doing nothing which is a terrible plan.

Tanking's already been so simplified... I'd really rather they just leave it alone now. It doesn't need to be any simpler. The OT should just provoke, they even buffed provoke such that it gives more enmity by a % over what the current highest on the monster was. It's really really brainless now. Not trying to be a jerk, but really, how simple does it need to be? With provoke there's no reason to have Enmity stance active as an OT, unless there are multiple targets to pick up. I mean really, so much thought has been taken out of tanking that it's barely tanking any more.

Which is probably one of the reasons you see more do-nothing tanks on tank. Tank is an easy queue for 8-man, OT is an easy, probably won't die way to sorta half-ass your way through a weekly clear in a normal raid or trial roulette. Though MT isn't really any harder.

Also just adding base enmity to all tank's attacks wouldn't fix the problem of do-nothing tanks. There's plenty of tanks out there that queue into an 8 man duty, then spam the most basic of combos a few times, then just stop doing GCDs and oGCDs for a large portion of the fight time cause they're trying to watch youtube instead. Unless they made tank auto attacks generate so much enmity that they gain more enmity than a DPS doing their full rotation, then you'll still run into DPS and healers dying when the MT dies, cause a lotta times OTs are only half there(and sometimes they die because of this).

While I see your point OP, turning tank stance on or off mid-fight as OT doesn't really disrupt anything. Much like Covfefe, after the initial burst in a fight if I'm an OT I'll switch my stance on so there's nothing to worry about. It's such a small thing to change, and people are already so bad that giving them more enmity for doing basically nothing will just make things harder for everyone else. The MT dies and suddenly the enemy is bouncing between the OTs that weren't ready to actually tank it? No thanks. That already happens with all these Chads that want to tank everything ever, and at least they're actually trying to. I don't want to deal with people who aren't even ready to tank the enemy they just became top of the aggro list for.

I seem to have opposite problem: 8 man content starts, neither tank has stance on; I put on my stance and begin short enough countdown; when countdown hits about 5-2 seconds till pull (if healer or dps has not pulled yet, man that 10 sec pull is... unbearable, isn't it), the other tank puts on his stance in obvious hurry; first 10-20 seconds of the fight are spend aggro ping-ponging between us, before I turn my stance off for the other guy to establish the aggro proper.
I put my stance on little later, because I might need it, if my co-tank dies to something hilarious. Half of the time they do.
Not saying I could hate extra aggro, but I think it would be just needless extra. We have provoke, we have ShB aggro which is brainlessly effective. I personally liked sort of having 2 provokes with Ultimatum but I would not campaign to bring it back, because that would be needless extra too.
