why? you can only gather in inexact amounts and it's driving me up the wall
Because those are the same for crafting?
Because the scrip rewards are smaller than 1 scrip per item for MIN/BTN. Only the 2-star mats have a scrip amount that could be exchanged at a 1:1 ratio of item for scrip. Note that the fisher items can be turned in 1 at a time and their scrip rewards start at 1 scrip per fish.
You'd still end up with oddball amounts even if it were single turn-is as crafting is by 10s. You will just have odd number approved instead of odd number unapproved.
Approved can be sold on the market, though they're hardly worth anything.
You don't have to gather the full amount from a node, and you can use Bountifil Harvest/Yield II strategically to round up the amount. Though then the problem is in finding nodes with the right materials since each type of node can have two or three different configurations of materials.
Hm.. correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the standard number of gathering attempts for the diadem nodes 5 (normal) or 10 (unspoiled)?
I didn't spend a lot of time there yet, maybe an hour at most. But I always ended up with a multiple of 5 in my inventory after finishing a node.
With no bonus or buffs, I'd have 5 of the mat after a normal node. If I had +2 gathering yield buff, I'd end up with 15 after the node (3x 5).
Wasn't difficult to leave the diadem with stacks that were all multiples of 10 at the end.
Yup, and the other more buff is +5 gathering attempts. That said, you can use GP to give yourself singles quite easily. E.g. spending 100 GP to give yourself +2 on a single attempt. That can lead to misaligned numbers fairly easily especially given it was the most efficient way to gather the previous skybuilder mats. I guess the moral is to only use the ones that grant extra items on every attempt instead to aid with inventory management.
