Unsummon it, pull the mob you want, move a bit from the group of mob and resummon carbuncle.
OR
Put your carbuncle in Steady to prevent him from attacking and change it back to guard when pulling
ok thx also didnt see hotbar for it im using a controller at the minute or is that under my characters name? also i just saw it should be on obey currently its on guard right now (was on diff site )
"Guard" is fine. You don't want to have him on "Obey" when you're just starting the game -- you want to swap him between "Steady" (when you don't want him attacking) and "Guard" while you get the hang of Arcanist (and later Summoner, which Arcanist will turn into).
His hotbar is called the "pet hotbar". It enables by default on PC, but I'm not sure about on console, if you're using one. If you can't find the pet hotbar, go into your settings (you can find them by clicking the "XIV" button on the red menu bar), then click on "HUD Layout". It looks confusing, but it's not! Open the dropdown list that appears, and find "Pet Hotbar". Then you can enable / disable it, move it to where you can find it easier, and resize it.
For reference, you're going to get more carbuncles - make sure you do your job quests, because at level 15, you'll get a new carbuncle that won't / can't pull extra mobs unless you tell him to. He's a bit easier to level with, as he gives you a shield, too!
yea it was i summoned carby attacked something then had like 4 come at me haha
is there a way to face a target even when moving like on archer when using controller but with mouse and keyboard? because on controller with archer can target a mob then press down the stick to target again so always face it and it gives you another target lock cross hair or is that only with archer?
I'd really recommend not using that feature. You'll find that you move extremely slowly when backing away, often too slow to get out of the way of AoE attacks.
