Help me understand my SAM more
I'll start by saying I am just a casual player, but I do care about playing jobs correctly to the best of my ability. I'm on PS4, so the only thing I have to gauge my DPS are blowing up dummies at SSS. However, I am aware of how limited this tool is.
To attempt to make things short, I think I am a good SAM, but I don't really know if I'm good enough to hop into relevant EX trials. I came up with my rotation entirely on my own and decided to do the Hades EX dummy, and blew it up with 30secs left. The calculation came to 15.2k (I honestly have no idea how good, or bad this is) and I'm currently at i460 with about 1:1 ratio of DHR and CHR melds (no overmelds), and also x2 +60 SkS.
That was without any food or weaving in STR+ potions. I know that in order to attempt to reach potential DPS I need to max my gear out, but I as just more or less curious to see what kind of ballpark figure my DPS was sitting at. Obviously things like mechanics will decrease DPS, while abilities like Seigan cannot be factored on a SSS dummy.
Where I'm asking for help are:
Proper melding - for example, can too much of any particular stat have diminishing returns?
SkS in relation to Hagakure - Right now, it is really weird how I use this ability. I only use it when Meikyo is off CD AND I need to apply Higanbana (such as during the opener). When Higanbana is ready, the rotation goes: Hakaze>>Kaiten>>Higanbana>>Yukikaze>>Hagakure (to eat the Sen)>>Meikyo Shisui.
*I hope I'm not totally doing this wrong, but it's been the only way I have been able to find a use for Hagakure. And where does SkS come into this?
any tips are helpful
I've always been under the impression to at least blow up the dummy before hopping into the EX trial, but I am still really curious as to what my DPS should be at, and how to go about finding that information.
