It will be nice have weapon and rest of the gear on their separate plates.
Right now, if I have a set I want to use for any class, I have to replicate it on its own plate for each job if I want glam the weapon too.
Right now I just gave up on glamour the weapon using plates.
You can have them on separate plates.
You don't have to replicate the plate for each job. Just make a plate with the weapon and nothing else (or - like Chyro said - if you don't want to waste the plate just for a weapon, add another glamour-outfit there and just unequip everything but the weapon before you apply it).
Not sure if this helps, but if you have various glamour sets and various weapons on those glamour sets, you can also 'mix and match' by applying the glamour set with the Armor-Glamour you want first - then unequip all your armor, and apply the glamour set with the weapon-glamour you want. (also works if you want to mix-and-match other pieces of glamour from your plates)
This may be more or less of an option depending on how many classes you play, and if your glamour sets are very class-specific or can be used on any class.
A bit annoying do all that each time, but good to know.
