Odd market behaviour (am I missing something)

Recently I installed a bookseller's stall in my house and I thought it would be nice to have a retainer to run it. I created an Arcanist and stocked her with grimoires but because I'm THAT sort of bookseller I don't actually want to sell books, I just want to live in a book shop. So I priced all my books insanely high and people keep buying them! Is there a reason why anyone (or even quite a few people) would buy an HQ leather grimoire for 20,000 gil that I'm unaware of? I'm tempted to price them higher but I feel a bit guilty in case I'm profiting from other people's cluelessness.

It's a turn in for Grand Company ALC supply missions and one of the tradecraft leves in Ul'dah.

I doubt it's anyone who's clueless buying. Some people are willing to pay well to skip doing the work themselves sometimes.

I continue to be amazed at how much people will pay for things that have the vendor price listed right there on the item description.

Its the sell price. Not the price to buy from a vendor.

20k is actually not that high, especially for a GC and leve turnin, and more especially if it was HQ. If you truly don't want to sell them, you'll want to price them into the hundreds of K.

Don't feel bad. Whoever bought them knew what they were doing.

The description shows the sell and buy price from vendors. But of course you can't buy HQ from a vendor and at such low craft levels you can't reliably HQ yourself. Still 20k seems pretty high to me personally, those low levels go by so fast I don't usually even bother with turn-ins until I'm a little higher and I definitely wouldn't be spending money on it, but to each their own. When I see out of whack prices like that while doing my turn-ins I'll usually make 2, one to turn in and one to sell, so no don't feel bad about it.

No, they changed it a while ago to also show the buying price if there is one.
