Returning Player From Launch

So yup, everythin's totally different now. When I first heard about the Combo system last week, I thought it was simply a gimmick. Then I rejoined 2 days ago as a brand new level 1 PUG and grinded to 20 to find that the Combo system totally rocks.

Please tell me that Warriors, Paladins, and Black Mages are just as fun as the PUG too when it comes to Combos o.O Since those are the other classes I'm interested in playing besides WHM. How the hell does the healer class combo anyways? More powerful heals?

CON/WHM have damage combos like BLM, they are wind and earth.

For cnj/whm you combo on your damaging spells. Basically more damage and it also converges the spells to single target. The 2nd teir nukes for cnj/whm are aoe otherwise.

Black mage aren't very fun right now because the combo the black mage has is too simplistic. It might be the class that needs the most work for compelling gameplay.

Agreed, it would be nice to see BLM have cross elemental Combos with real Bonus effects. Other than that the Combo System Rocks. You should try out Lancer.

i disagree with this

i love blm, and even if the combos arent always ideal(since they cost mana) it does cut down the cooldown on the spells by alot so it has its own advantages there

BLM is my main choice. For the most part you'll be doing Thunder combos (Fire combos on groups as it's AoE), and while at it, you'll probably rarely use tier III spells for those combos due to their casting times+mp consumption VS damage doesn't really make them that worth (I personally use them to break the monotony :p). Also you may find Blizzara useful for instant AoEing low hp mobs.

Other than that, I like agro management on BLM, provided you have Archer and Pugilist leveled (though Freeze does a great job too!) as well as helping with the crowd control.

I can understand why BLM can be dull or boring to some. There's plenty of room for improvement, of course, but I'm always having so much fun playing it regardless.
