Uldah inn

If they can't fix problems with the inn how do they expect to deal with an influx of people should that happen? I mean its been going on for how long now and they can't seem to fix the problem. I am worried about the state of the game and got me wondering if the people making the game are inexperienced.

It's a new feature and it obviously has something to do with the amount of players in Uldah, otherwise LL and Grid would suffer the same problems.

So...they just need to find out what's causing it exactly and fix it. Til then just go to LL/Grid.

I expect it's more a problem of the underlying server application architecture than developer inexperience. There have been many feature requests which have been ruled out or delayed due to the impossibility or time cost of implementing them with the current server software. Based on what I've read about it in the past, I'm impressed that they have been able to get it to implement new features like the item search, player search, and the Inn system at all.

Fortunately, they began designing and implementing a new server setup (hardware and software both I think) early on in the 2.0 process, and last I heard it's currently up-and-running in house.

Its a server problem, probably due to the high population in Ul'dah, they will fix it if its possible with the current servers.

I've been hearing a good amount of speculation that they're secretly doing it intentionally in an attempt to spread out the population to the other cities.

Why do you think they're working on a new client and server infrastructure?

This problem will persist until Ver2.0 when they are able to link the Market Wards of all 3 cities. Until that time everyone will continue to gravitate towards Ul'Dah as they have done in the past putting a strain on the curent servers that they are not equiped to handle. After Ver 2.0 and linkage players should start returning and using their home cities, at least til Ishgard <Jueno> opens up.

Hopefully its not to late by 2.0. By that time Ulduh will have been the hub for 2+ years and ppl will be reluctant to move at that point. But also with the new architecture they should be able to have more Inn servers in Ulduh and filter the traffic around.
