They still haven't fixed card gameplay for gamepad users

I'm not surprised, and I'm a fool for hoping. I just don't understand how it even passed testing before the expansion release if it's an issue for gamepad specifically. Yes, there are people who have used "loophole" to bypass the issue (to a degree), but that shouldn't be necessary. If FFXIV is for keyboard and gamepad users, and the gameplay of a class is not good on one of those types of gaming methods, then they should treat it like a bug and fix it.

I'm still 100% convinced they didn't play test healers before ShB launched. The problems with healers wasn't simple numbers problems, ie, one being way stronger than the rest. Something like that I could understand slipping through the cracks, it was fundamental gameplay issues and class flow problems. (remember energy drain?)

I just hope their answer to this problem isn't to simplify the job. Despite its problems, AST is my only saving grace for healing being somewhat interesting in ShB...and I am a controller player.

With SE's track record, the cards have probably already been written away and put into Ranged Magical DPS' role skills for the next expansion. But don't worry, everyone will get wings when they take Temperance and make it a role skill, and they'll maintain balance by removing Energy Drain from Scholar's again.

You mean they would make fluid aura a role action and design 1 quest that is designed to make it mandatory to use so they never have to improve/remove it.

Yep can definitely see card system reduced to 4 cards (possible to go to 2 but unlikely). Ignoring everything people both hate and love about current Ast.

The simplest bandaid fix would be to implement smart cards. If you're not targeting a party member when you hit play, a melee card goes to the closest melee>tank>ranged>healer who doesn't have a buff currently. Ranged cards would be ranged>healer>melee>tank.

Cards could still be placed on specific individuals by taking the time to target them.

This is a small enough change to be done in a patch. I don't see a full rework coming until the next expansion, unfortunately.
