Gathering Class for Monster Drops

Is there any talk about a 4th Gathering Class that is specifically for Monster Drops? Like a legit "Hunter" Gathering Class that uses Traps and stuff to get monster drops?

I spent a hour in a half this morning One-Shotting Golden Fleece in Eastern Thanalan for 200 Snurble Tufts with the most I've gotten per one being 2 while anyone can go beat up Karakuls in Coerthas Central Highlands and get up to 9 Fleece per one

And Retainers sent out for Hunting Ventures make it seem worthless unless it's something annoying to farm like Pudding Flesh so leaving their only practical use is Quick Exploration Ventures due to the fact that Hunter/Combat Class Retainers can have The Highest Possible Item Level

Sending combat retainers out for something you plan on needing sooner or later, while you’re busy doing something else, is the way to go. Don’t send them out when you need Snurble Tuft, send them out before you need Snurble Tuft, enough times that you have more than what you need.

That aside, you’re mistaken about Quick Ventures. Only the combat class retainers use ilevel. DoL retainers use Gathering. Get gathering high enough and they can return the exact same things as that high ilevel combat retainer. FSH retainers use a modified scale compared to MIN/BOT due to lacking the Gathering on the OH tool.

IMO combat retainers are better than DoL retainers, as far as time-savings go. They get you stuff that is usually harder for you to get en masse, and they get them 5/7/10 items per 60/50/40 minutes. Not a lot per retainer, but if you have several, it adds up. All while you’re able to spend that 40 minutes getting far far more than 30 ores/herbs/etc. that your MIN/BOT retainers can fetch.

I doubt they're going to create a gathering class for monster drops. Those are a way for all players to get items and earn gil.

Yes, I did. I made quite a bit of gil while I was at it because so many players were too lazy to do their own farming so I could sell my leftovers at ridiculous prices. I'll admit the farming was annoying while I was still leveling my DoW job but once I got to 70 and obtained some gear, it wasn't that bad.

There are already 17 jobs in the game capable of gathering monster drops (18 if you want to include Blue Mage). When it comes to Norvrandt drops, the gemstone traders are an optional source. And of course we still have Hunting ventures on our DoW/DOM retainers.

There is no need for another gathering class dedicated to these items when we use the sources we already have for them.

I am more into making combat retainer to get elemental shards and crystals.

I hope they give a 18 hour exploration for shard/crystal yield that goes for 18 trip yield or less like 10 trip yield.
