I'm surprised this hasn't been implemented since 11 had it. But could we gets some love for gatherers to have multiple map markers either temporary (erase when logged out) or permanently? With the ability to cancel, edit and move these markers.

How would they differ from the waymarks we already have?

The flag that looks like this.
Don't use the map flag. Use the Waymarks. We currently have 6 and that will be increasing to 8 in this patch. The Waymarks are visible at the distance the nodes are separated (unless a terrain feature is in the way) and also will have direction arrows on the mini-map.
They will reset when you leave the zone but they're easy enough to place again on your next visit.
I second the waymarker approach. The only time multiple markers would have been useful is map hunts, but waymarkers are way more useful when it comes to gathering and things, and I'd rather they put the time expanding that system rather than adding more /flag options.
Yeah, as pointed out, Waymarks are just the better option for your purposes. The only benefits flags have is being able to link them in chat to share, which, do you ever need to do that for gathering? Flags do also persist when you're not in the zone, which is nice. Haven't checked with the new update, but I think it said something about saving Waymarks only works in instances? That could and should really be expanded to open world for this exact purpose of marking clusters. Aaand I guess you could say placing Flags directly on the map may be one advantage, where Waymarks do require you to visibly see the location being marked.
In conclusion, it's questionable if they even can expand the Flag system given how Flags can be linked. I'm sure they could find some way to make it work. But, never know. Personally, I'd rather see continued expansion of the Waymark system, being much better to use while gathering, since I can actually see the waymarks placed in the world, where the flags are only visible on the map.
