I know it's super duper minor and I really appreciate the instant summons for the pets: it's just that the little green orbs with the crystals/fire in them have always been a hallmark of the job throughout the series and it'd be cool for them to appear...somewhere on our summoning animations again.
It's a shame that it's a byproduct of the Summon I, II, III channel animations being cut short to the final animation frames by the actions being instant now. The channel had us draw out the diagrams to manifest the carbuncles and egis with a quill in our grimoire and as we were doing this that's when the orbs were present rotating around.
We do still see them with Dreadwyrm Trance, Summon Bahamut, Firebird Trance and Teraflare at least.
If it makes you feel any better, SCH retains the animations and they don't make sense now/anymore. I mean why do I need a mini tornado or dirt at my feet when I summon a non-elemental faerie... please SE just fix the animations.
Yeah those aren't coming back, because Summoning no longer has a casting time.
They did this so you can instantly swap out pets for whatever you needed on the spot.
Example:
You might be in a Boss Mob fight which is single target so using Ifrit, then get a bunch of Adds, and insta swap to Garuda to use its AoE egi assaults or Enkindle. And... Since Garuda's normal attacks are 30 potency per target, it far outstrips Ifrit's 80 potency on ONE target. So... on say 10 targets Garuda is doing 300 potency in attacks as to where Ifrit is still only doing 80 because its only capable of single targeting on normal attacks.
Or... you're in a transition phase in a Raid where everyone is about to take massive damage or needs to survive, and you insta swap to Titan to use the 30% percent damage shield to withstand it. Or maybe you have to hard cast Raise as your Insta cast is on CD.
That's what they had in mind, and why there is no longer a casting time for Summons... ergo no more Green Spheres as they had to cut off the animation.
Being instant is not a reason for why they don't have to exist. 3 of the 4 actions I listed that retain them are all instant oGCDs.
It's all because there are two sets of vfx/animations to any hard cast spell: channel + resolution. All we're getting with Summons 1-3 is the latter, whereas the orbs are part of the resolution for all of the other 4 actions.
If SE wanted to, they could include them in the resolution vfx for Summon 1-3. I'm not too fussed either way, but I understand that it's made those actions lose part of their Summoner flavour in the process when those orbs have been part of most summon animations since FFIII. XIV's, in particular, is more unique as instead of flames being within it is aether crystals which are fundamental to the overarching story of Amaurotine creation magic.
But you get them when summoning a Demi summon.
