new Idea for Scholar Rework

its another one of my rework idea for scholar ,this time inspired from FFXI stratagem.
hope you like it :) .

about stratagem:

scholar will have stacks of magic arts.
stratagem will have an amount of charges that will allow the scholar to consume 1 stack of the arts to apply its effects.
scholar will be able to carry a certain amount of magic arts stacks and only 1 type each,meaning u wont be able to have 2 identical magic art stacks at the same time to use and consuming the same magic arts will only refresh the duration if not applied.

about the magic arts

there are 2 types of magic arts: white arts and black arts.

white arts:
will enhance the effects of your next healing spell based on the stack consumed.

the different types are:

1.White Arts- Potent : the next healing spell will have a 10% base heal increase.
stacks can be obtain from casting the following spells: physics, lustrate, Indomitability.

2.White Arts -Relief: the next healing spell will grant an additional shield based on 50% of healing done.(stacked with galvanize and catalyst,cannot be stacked with white mage divine benison)
stacks can be obtain from casting the following spells: Adloquium,succor.

3.White Art - Sooth: the next healing spell will apply a 100 potency regen effect that last for 15s.
stacks can be obtain from casting the following spells:sacred soil,Excogitation.

4.White Art - revitalize :the next healing spell will not cost mp.
stacks can be obtain from casting the following spells: aetherflow.

black arts:
will change certain spells for 1 time use based on the stack consumed.

the different types are:

1.Dark Arts - Meltdown: change broil to meltdown. hurls a giant fireball at the target dealing damage equal to current broil and apply a 40 potency damage to target and nearby enemies that last for 30s.
stacks can be obtain from casting broil I/II/III.

2.Dark Arts - Curse : change bio to Curse. apply a black magic curse that will deal damage equal to current bio that last for 30s. and apply corruption.
stacks can be obtain from casting bio/bioII/Biolysis.

corruption - an additional 30 potency damage increase from the scholar own bio effect that will last for 12s.

3.Dark Arts - Quake : change AOW to Quake. causes tremors on the earth that will deal equal to Art of war ,stun for 1s and after 2s will deal 30 potency damage at the area cast.
stacks can be obtained from casting Art of War.

4.Dark Arts - Ruination: changes bio to ruination.deal damage equal to current bio - 20 potency that will last for 30s and apply ruination effect that will last for 15s.
stacks can be obtain from casting ruinII.

ruination - 10% increase to scholar own ruin II/Broil damage to target.

5.Dark Arts - Syphon -changes Energy Drain to Energy Syphon. deal damage to target equal to Energy Drain and deal 80% damage to nearby enemies.Absorbs a portion of damage dealt as HP and restores MP.
it doesn't cost Aetherflow stacks and wont increase fairy gauge.
stacks can be obtained from Energy Drain.

now to the skills:

lvl 1: ruin

lvl 2: bio

lvl 4: physick
summon eos
summon selene

Embrace- orders the fairy to prioritize a party member when casting embrace , skill is toggle and can be turned on/off

lvl 10: fey blessing- order the fairy to cast fey blessing -restore nearby party members hp (moved from level 76), CD:3s

lvl 12: Resurrection

lvl 20: whispering dawn

lvl 26: bio II

lvl 30: adloquium

lvl 35: succor

lvl-38: ruin II

lvl 40: Fey Illumination

lvl 45: energy drain.
Aetherflow.
Lustrate.

lvl 46: art of war

lvl 50: sacred soil.
AetherPack(moved from level 70). Fey union no longer ends upon execution of other fairy skills.

lvl 52: Indomitability.

lvl 54: ruin -> broil.

lvl 56: Deployment Tactics.

Stratagem -consume a magic art stack to apply its effect CD 60s, effects last for 30s until used

Enhance StratagemI(trait)- allow 1 charge of stratagem.

Magic Arts I(trait) - can carry 1 stack of Magic Art.

Addendum:Blanc - skills will grant White Arts stacks.cannot be stacked with Addendum:Noir. upon effect ends,clears all White Art stacks.cast:instant,Toggle,OGCD, activating Addendum:noir will end the skill effect

Addendum: Noir - skills will grant Black Arts stacks.cannot be stacked with Addendum: Blanc. upon effect ends,clears all Black Art stacks.cast:instant,Toggle,OGCD, activating Addendum:blanc will end the skill effect

lvl 58: emergency tactics.

lvl 60: dissipation

lvl 62: Excogitation.

lvl 64: broil -> broil II.

lvl 66: chain stratagem.

lvl 68: Enhanced StrategemII(trait) - increase strategem charges to 2.

Magic Arts II - can carry 2 stacks of Magic Arts.

lvl 70: Enkindle-the scholar orders the fairy/seraph to execute its enkindle.
skill change based on the pet, fairy and seraph will have different timers with seraph will have an indication when the skill will be ready

Fairy Enkindle: Fey Nova-fairy stores its energy for 3s and then unleash a burst that will deal damage and heal allies . for allies below 50% hp will also apply galvanize effect.
Cure potency:700, Damage potency:400,CD:180s ,Cost:100 fairy gauge,fairy must remain on the field for the skill duration,fairy will not execute other skills during Fey Nova charging

lvl 72: biolysis.

broil II -> broil III.

lvl 74: Recitation

lvl 76: Enhanced Sacred Soil(trait)- moved from level 78

lvl 78:Enhance StratagemIII(trait)- allow 3 charge of stratagem.

Magic Arts III(trait) - can carry 3 stack of Magic Art.

lvl 80: summon seraph
Consolation

Seraph Enkindle: Divine Essence- scholar consumes the power of the Seraph, granting him full aetherflow stacks,restores 20% mp and granting 50% mp reduction that last for 20s.
using it ends seraph summon,Cost 100 fairy gauge, CD:90s ,seraph need to be on the field during the animation

I used to main SCH in FFXI and always liked stratagems. I think for them to work in an FFXIV environment, they'll need to work more fluidly and in fairness, they kinda attempted this with Dark Knight in a more FFXIV way and I liked it, hence I went from WAR tanking to DRK tanking in HW. You'd use Dark Arts to strategically choose which abilities you want to enhance and how they're enhanced varies per skill and you can't over use it due to the MP cost. And I am sad that DRK lost that level of complexity.

I am in two minds, because whilst I like the idea of Scholar being able to enhance spells, I feel it's very much a part of its thing and I alluded to the idea in another thread, I also feel that how FFXI SCH works isn't wholly suitable for FFXIV and FFXIV's appeal is different. But the idea of having a version of stratagems appeals, if anything, they're a great idea for saving space on your cross/hotbar and we have some skills that do something similar to stratagems in game.

But I dunno if it's trying too much to be like FFXI's SCH. Which is odd to say as somebody who adored FFXI's SCH and its level of complexity. But I also agree that SCH needs more of its strategic and tactical flair. Deployment and Emergency Tactics are already attempts at this, and I think faerie choice added to its versatility. But I get the feeling this design could end up clunky.

But what if instead of trying to play with the Addendum's and Dark/Light Arts, how these played out were faerie dependent? Eos was traditionally the faerie more designed for aiding healers and Selene for utility. What if faeries granted some of these enhancements to your abilities? I don't know about the stratagem stacking as we already have aetherflow stacking, especially if reliant on certain abilities to give light/dark (as I example that could get awkward). But it could potentially be another use for the faerie gauge, your Dark or Light Arts (and whether they are light or dark depends on faerie choice) and you can spend the faerie gauge on how you enhance your spells. Interestingly, I've always felt the faeries to be our equivalent of Addendum Black/White because the purpose of Addendum was to give us access to extra spells based on our chosen art. At least, how I might think about tweaking it, but of course, my tweaks might not be somebody else's cup of tea. :P
