Cant change my class to Botanist

Hello,

Long time player here just returned last Christmas.

I returned and decided to level my goldsmith and miner first to 80 and after that decided to level my weaver. Quickly found out i needed to level my botanist more to gather ingredients. My main is 80BLM.

Now i have in my Classes/Jobs listed a Botanist level 51 so thought i buy a lower level scythe and the marketboard says "You currently cannot equip this item, proceed with the transaction".

I cleared space in my Armoury chest but that doesnt help also. Still same marketboard message.

I also have a secondary botanist tool , a Militia Scythe its in my armoury chest. i tried putting that one in my secondary slot and the game says: cannot equip as current class.

Also tried the botanist guild in old gridania, but no options there also.

So i basicly have a 51 BTN but i cant use it now, what is wrong?

**Small update, i bought a low level hatchet and it let me equip, now im 51 btn but the quest my first hatchet popped up, so i start from scratch in the botanist guild i guess. Weird.

That error message is working as intended - it will always state that if you buy a weapon or tool that is not for your current class, regardless if you have that class/Job unlocked or not (and the same message will be shown not just on the Market Board but at NPC weapon stores and even the end game tome gear vendors).

Just ignore it, it doesn't actually mean that you're not able to switch to that class, it's just there as a safety net in case a player makes the wrong choice and buys the wrong weapon or tool they were after - as long as you satisfy the level requirement for it and have the class unlocked then it's fine. :D

Also, just to add, the "swap weapon slot item to switch jobs" only works for Primary slot items, not off hand slot item.
For Botanist, Hatchet = Primary, Scythe = Off hand

Hi. I'm relatively new, only having played for a little over a month. Even so, I haven't had any difficulty changing classes until now. Today, I picked up Archer, but when I try to equip the starting weapon, I get the following error message, "unable to equip xxxxx. Insufficient armory chest space." I came here to discover that there is sometimes a problem with rings when changing classes, so I unequipped all my rings across all jobs and reregistered all sets, but sadly, that didn't work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to make room in the ring section for it to unequip rings.

Lack of space in the Armoury Chest for rings can interefere with changing classes, but it can occur with any piece of gear, you might have to go through the entire Armoury Chest and ensure you have at least one empty slot in each to change, and then try changing your weapon again.

You may need two spaces free, I have a hard time switching if I only have one space free.

You need to equip a hatcht, not a scythe, only the primary tool will change the class.

You obviously levelled Botanist without actually doing any of the quests.
