Balmung & Mateus Blocked

Are Balmung & Mateus on Crystal permanently blocked from new character creation? I've been trying for ages to get on at least one of these worlds. What's the down low on this?

As long as the population remains high enough on those servers, they will stay locked.

Basically the above. They periodically check the population and how many are logged in and decide if it's still congested or not. Keep an eye on the news page about world status and congested servers.

I'm not sure if you can try the 'early ass hours of the morning' new character trick that used to work sometimes, but in general, the servers are locked down for the time being. Can't make new and can't transfer to.

When congested, it's a hard lock until maintenance, if they decide to change the status then.

Character creation can be softlocked as well, during peak times, but congested is a full lock.

This makes me very sad. As an RP player, I'm looking for a good home. I'm told these are the best worlds for RP. Any other suggestions?

Basically any Crystal world will have a roleplay hub at this point, and given the world visit feature you can absolutely just port to Balmung and Mateus for the day and roleplay with people there at your leisure. I've seen people from every Crystal server roleplaying here pretty consistently since world visit was implemented.

Yeah, I think Diabolos has 1 or 2 itself, but I don't pay a whole lot of attention.

I'd pick any Crystal world and just world visit Bal or Mateus. The only thing you'd miss is getting a FC there or an apartment (Because housing there is beyond savage). I do that a lot. There's lots of FCs that have cross world LS's that basically act as an extension of their FC too, so you can easily get into a group. Dragon's Dive is a fun group in Mateus, for example.

Honestly, this is the stupidest thing. Mateus only became congested again after they removed the auto-logout function (even though it was such a poorly designed function you could bypass it by talking to your retainer)... If they brought back the auto-logouts again, we could actually get a better look at what the realm population is.. but instead we have people who stand in the same spot for DAYS and just dance; and no, i am not being hyperbolic, i have seen people stand in one spot every day and have only seen them gone on the day after maintenance and then they come back.
