Too many of us have FOUGHT tooth and nail to try and obtain a medium or large house for our FC because we have too many members for a small house to accomodate our needs. Every other game with GREAT housing has INSTANCED housing. We still had that neighborhood feel to it so allow me to make my argument.
1. In the last four years, even after spending every day outside of my small FC house, only THREE PEOPLE have ever walked up and said hello. Only one of which I made friends with. What neighborhood feel? Staring at someone else's ugly paissa house?
2. XIV has seen a massive influx of players making it even more difficult to obtain housing. Mateus, Balmung and similar servers are full within minutes of housing becoming available and it will be months to a year before we see a tiny amount of new wards added. There is the funding for server space with the new influx of game purchases, store purchases and new subs. Expand server space to allow for VASTLY increased wards on full servers if you refuse to implement instanced wards.
3. You can have BOTH. If you are determined to keep regular housing wards, so be it. All that we ask is that you include ONE special ward of INSTANCED housing for those of us who don't care about seeing our neighbor's yard decorations. It would allow all of those homeless FC's to obtain not only -a- house, but the SIZE Of house that their FC needs to accommodate their play styles.
3a. How would it work? You would click the Plaque and choose who's house you want to visit. (You can allow visitors, or keep your estate locked.) Once you choose the person's name, it teleports you just outside of the front gate. You can still have your yard decorations! The door, rather than being the instance, will simply swing open like any other door (Or click to open it for the front door maybe.) The only challenge I foresee with this are the private rooms but I'm sure your talented team can figure it out.
This is flat out ridiculous and unacceptable quite frankly. ShB is amazing, so amazing that perhaps it's raising our standards for the game completely. Please stop letting housing be a blight. Please let housing be ENJOYABLE for everyone instead of the select few with lightning fast internet, SSD's and lucky enough to not encounter a server error.

1. So people not being around your house means there's no neighborhood anywhere else? Like.. Anywhere in the game, period? Well, damn. Gotta run stuff by you more often then. (sarcasm)
2.Once again, another person that doesn't understand why infinite wards can't be a thing. It's not server space, it's not "hardware limitations". It's Server-burden and how the server interprets and transfers data. Do some research.
3.Why make two completely separate housing systems, exactly? To appease a small group that cannot be bothered to deal with the current way of things? Boo hoo, I guess? Instanced Housing wouldn't be any better than Ward housing, infact it'd be even worse purely because it'd still take up the same amount of data, the same amount of server-burden. Just without a street to walk down and instead, just staring into an ugly abyss. Yeah, brilliant trade-off.
Ridiculous? Probably. Unacceptable? Well, you said yourself that on Mateus, Balmung and other "similar servers" are bought up within moments of there being new houses. So I guess it isn't as unacceptable as you think. Housing isn't a blight, you're just too obsessed with it. -

You can white knight all that you want for 'why it can't happen' and buy some crock of an excuse but I went through Cisco, did you? There are plenty of other games who have zero issue with housing allocation for EVERYONEYou have obviously never played RIFT, EverQuest 1 or EverQuest II because people are perfectly content with their housing system. No one here is HAPPY with the housing system other than those who were fortunate enough to not get server lobby errors, who have 100 million gil to get a medium house by buying someone else's FC, or just plain got lucky enough to get a bigger house.Quote:

This defense is so worthless, it's laughable at how often it's brought up. You realize that, out of all those games you have suggested, none of them exist anymore? Or the fact that they're run on an entirely different engine, with entirely different parameters and data-management systems to compliment said engine? I know it's quite hard to fathom, but FFXIV is still running on it's 1.0 engine, just with a fair amount of duct-tape on it.
You like housing in those games? Go play those games then. Simple fix.
As for "just because im not mad means X", I never said the system was perfect. Infact, I am quite on-the-fence with the current system and unable to truly say it's worth the headaches it grants. But everyone continues to ignore the fact that the system was a rushed job to try and stop house-flippers and, until Shadowbringers sudden surge in player-count, it was doing its job just fine. The surge, SE couldn't truly predict and so they have to make quick temporary solutions while a rework is on the docket. Wards 19 - 21 is proof of that.
And white-knighting? For pointing out the issues in your statement? Ok then. -

Your main problem was being on a crowded server and not prepping a small house in advance so you could try and relocate. You can blame individuals all you want but, its your own fault that you refuse to settle for a small.

Most FFXIV players these days know the only way to get a Medium / Large house is via relocations. Its impossible to get one waiting out timers.
I haven't personally had an issue finding the occasional Medium house to relocate into by actively searching and Behemoth used to be congested not too long ago. If you're really serious about obtaining a Medium / Large house you'll probably want to swap out of Mateus since it is a congested server. You can be on the same data centre so you can still catch up with people you know but nowadays apart from FCs and housing theres no real need to be tied to any particular server since you can world visit.
My advice is to wait for Ishgard housing. That will open up at least 21 new wards of housing which is more than we got with the combined 19-21 wards in 5.1. There will probably be a lot of people attempting to purchase into Ishgard which should free up housing in other areas which can simple be relocated into. -
