Game keeps crashing after I log in

Every time I log in and get in game I keep getting a "An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FF. and a list of ffXIV_dx11.exe error messages. I was on my main character and heading to lakeland and it crashed. I've noticed that for some reason it crashes when I try to log on with my main. I can get in game if I log in on one of my alts. But I can not get in game with my main character. HELP been at this all day

If this is only happening to one character, you may want to try removing the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.

If this does not resolve the issue, try reinstalling the game.

How about you fix your patch or roll back 5.1 patch. This is happening to a lot of players this is happening to me to. I have never got one error every before till your 5.1 patch. My pc has most up to date drivers. This is not a hardware problem on our side but yours. my pc played just fine in all of 5.0 and now getting dx11 error. Your telling ones they should uninstall game and download it again when some of us don't get fast internet speed. Like me I only get 4mb and it take me 4 days of none stop downloading. You need to fix it because even if we did download game again who says we won't have same problem again. I already use 2 old back up copies and they did same thing after updating to 5.1.

I already downloaded it twice and it doesn't work ^^ I hope there will be a small hotfix soon ^^'

In addition to deleting the locally saved content, could you try doing a cleanboot? Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

Doesn't matter how many time we do it on our side if it's not hardware or software problem on our side. My pc has always had everything that can be disable off since only used for gaming and nothing else. Also tried lowering the setting to lowest to see if that help it didn't. Right now can't even login to character screen without it crashing. I use windows version and not steam version of the game but looks like steam version having same problems to. In copycat factory get some weird type of lag where game will not let me move at all for 5 to 10 seconds at a time. Happens when ever boss use ground aoe it just freeze up movement.

Same here, deleted the locally saved Content, did cleanboot and now im reinstalling but i dont think it will help. I noticed though that all players with this Problem seem to use a Nvidia Graphics Card. So i think its related to that. Could also be a Steam related thing tho.
