The only uses I can think of for this, are to bait out excellent and goods, at a cost of only 1 instead of a cost of 7 with observe. With the whistle mechanic from specialists completely stripped out, the obvious reasons are gone. Could you sit there, bait out good and cash them in with tricks of the trade and keep a project going forever? (edit: Can't final, while already waiting on the previous, so no, can't cycle like that, at least not that inexpensively)

I can't think that is the intended use of this action, but it's the only use I can think of for it? I could see it as a hint to use Delicate Synthesis, if that wasn't the most expensive way to progress quality (per point of efficiency) in the entire game.

It's use is for bumping up your quality. Get it as far as you can then finish it off.

You'd use this, if you where increasing your progress first, to 99.9% completion, and then shifting to quality?

That's a bit of a head scratcher, I've never tried it that way around.

My first thought was using it with Delicate Synthesis on my custom delivery macro. I guess it could be useful with Rapid Synthesis (they upped it to 500% with lvl 63 trait) for those that want to gamble with a 50/50 skill.

It's smarter to know you can complete the craft than to spend too much being focused on quality that you fail to notice you don't have enough steps/CP to finish an HQ. This is nice for when you're not sure how the math/bonuses will work out to keep you from accidentally finishing the craft early.

We've lost the ability that returns items to us more often on failure, so I guess it makes sence to do progress first when we can...

Who wants a NQ piece of junk? I make gear specifically to HQ it. If it is NQ its tossed. It is junk and worthless. Do unless desynthesis returns ALL mats to you, wanting to complete a trash item isn't any different from failing outright.
