I'm guessing this has been suggested in the "Site Features / Feedback &Suggestion" forum, but I wouldn't know because I haven't actually look there. ;)
It might have to do with the fact that eventually, many, if not most, of the lodestone features will be moved over to the forums. At the very least, they have said that the dev letters will end up being here, as will all news regarding maintenance, down time, etc. At which point, the only thing the lodestone is used for is viewing live stats and blogs?
I am also guessing, and this truly is just a guess, sometimes it is easier to develop major changes independently and than integrate or bridge them later. Since SE has said the forums have some features explicitly turned off, it could be a feature that is already there and we don't know it. /shrug
It's probably because this forum right now is nothing more than a vBulletin like you find at many websites (Including my LS forums!) instead of an in-house designed thing, and SE has not yet found a way to link it with the Lodestone site's login.
Really? I don't have to do that. I stay logged into both and never have to relog.
I did have to log into this one when I first made the account but no longer after that.
My problem is that I have my browser set to clear each time I shut down...
On my pc I'm automatically logging in on both whenever I visit, but they're handled separately. No security token. When I use the library computers, logging into lodestone doesn't get me logged in on the forums. But yeah, these are just simple bulletin boards, and they're just in beta mode so..
I use a security token and never need to relog into the forums. Logged in on day 1 and it never logs me out because the cookie lasts 1 year.
if your cookie working properly you shouldn't need to do it again, they need https loggin at first but after you did it the cookie of the lodestone and this forum are separate from the SE ID management system
