Cutter's Cry - Trouble Targeting Guardian Ants under princess

I am having a lot of trouble targetting the Guardian ants that spawn underneath the princess. I can't click-and-target for some reason. Should I be able to? Seems like there are too many ants to cycle through with tab target.

Right now you can only tab-target or point-and-click, unfortunately. You could try an /assist macro, but chances are that if you're having issues targeting the guard so is everyone else.

What class are you playing at that NM, for ref.? The guard pops on a 1 min. timer from when you engaged the Princess originally, so you can anticipate that it's coming. If you're a melee, such as DRG or WAR, what you can do it sort of zoom in your camera into Princess's abdomen right before you know guard is going to pop, and try tab-targeting then. Because (hopefully), you'll mainly have her, the guard, and maybe a couple soldiers in view so it shouldn't be an issue to tab over to him.

Are you having add-control issues? There shouldn't be 10 billions soldiers up before the guard spawns, so maybe your group needs to work on using AoEs appropriately to make sure that when guard pops, the soldiers are running in, not already there (besides the occasional distance-runner that decides to win the race against its friends to Princess).

If you're still having issues, try using an AoE WS as soon as the guard pops.

There are basically two ways to deal with this: all DD AOE when guard pop (and finish it off if needed when there is no more adds), or have some DD constantly cleaning out adds so when guard pop there would be none.
The first way suits melee set up (i.e. WARx4 BRD DRG WHMx2), second way suits mage set up better (i.e. WARx2 WHMx2 BLMx4).

The guardian pops every minute after you claim the Princess, so one player remember the time and tells the party 10 seconds before the pop. Have your 3 or 4 blms start casting Firaga a few seconds later on the Princess, the casting time will be over a few seconds after the guardian pops, finish it with Fire.
