Is there a reason why the mini game 'The Finer Miner' only have 5 tries per round versus 'Out on a Limb' that have 10 tries per round? In my experience, The Finer Miner isn't that much easier to find the sweet spot at all yet the 5 tries limit really put people off playing this game over Out on a Limb which is a lot easier to score big.
From what I understand those minigames are actually direct renditions of how gathering was actually done with Disciples of the Land in FFXIV 1.0, so hence the frustrating mechanics of it (it shows just how much FFXIV changed with ARR). As for the discrepency between them, maybe SE considers one easier than the other? I admit I never play them so I have no idea if that's true or not.
The reason is that the timer of Finer Miner resets after each round, while the timer of Out on a Limb does not.
So you have one game with 1 minute for each round, but less tries per round, and one game with 1 minute for all rounds, but more tries per round.
I see, I didn't even noticed that the timer reset back to 1:00. I still find it a lot easier to score more on the Out on a Limb game though, 5 tries doesn't seem enough to find the sweet spot considering the reward for hitting the spot is quite small.
I actually miss gathering method from 1.0 while there were a lot of technical mishaps, there weren't so many items to gather like what we have now but I do see the nightmare of using the old method with our current gathering jobs.
I do miss how we were able to start the game as a crafter/gatherer class ....
