Lynch Pin
I wanted to ask the FFXIV community a question. When a group for dungeons or raids comes together in the current content, what job, aside from the typical tanks and healers, is the one job you consider critical in making a raid or Dungeon work. What job do you consider the "lynch pin" that holds the group together, that makes it work. I know this encroaches on the word that shall not be named.. the 4 letter word we are not allowed to speak ..."Meta" but I'm just looking for opinions. I know everyone is going to say "it doesn't matter, everyone can play anything and you can clear any content so play what you like!" but there are still going to be some jobs that just make the dungeon run or raid group run smoother. A job that when you see it in a group you can't help but say.. "oh thank @#$ we got one of those in our group".
I don't mean to cause dissent or anger anyone, I just wanted to see what everyone's opinions are on the matter. Not looking for what the "Meta" group is.. just what you are happy to see when you start a run.
I recently tanked an expert Twinning on my Pally a day or two ago and for me it's Black Mage. When I saw our group start with a Black Mage and a Samurai both, I smiled and pulled so much,.. it was a tremendously fun run that ran so smooth that I just sighed happily at the end. Thank you for all of your thoughts and opinions!

When I play DPS I always feel safest on RDM because I don't trust random tanks/heals. It can be fun saving a run after the tank didn't CD and the healer can't keep up. I also just enjoy having a goon to take a tether from.

Personally I feel safest on SMN. They're middle of the road on DPS, able to be fully mobile if needed, and can afford multiple raises easily (I have no problem with hardcasting raises even in savage). Phoenix's HoT is impactful and often ensures I have aggro if a tank dies, something I'd prefer to have to help mechanics resolve correctly if needed. Addle saves teammates from mechanics they'd otherwise need shields for, and Titan's Earthen Armor can protect you while you're raising everyone else or soaking something you're not supposed to (mostly auto-attacks) while the tanks are dead.
The only thing I probably should do is set a raise macro so re-raised healers stop wasting MP on dead people when they need it for mechanics.

I'm gonna have to go with SMN or RDM for safety rez but other than that, all other roles are pretty much in the same boat.

I'm a tank main mostly, and my favorite thing to see is usually a WHM. Their ability to output monster dps without really even affecting their healing output is always welcome in dungeons. When I see a WHM, I know that I can easily double and triple pull and they will be able to keep up easily, even with ilvl 430 and 440 gear.
All healers are certainly capable of being able to put out enough healing for these situations, but SCH and AST are a bit tougher to play IMO, which results in some less skilled players struggling to keep up.

As far as a DPS lynch pin, battle res is certainly a welcome addition, but I tend to prefer classes with higher DPS. DRG, MNK, and BLM are amazing right now is basically all content.
