legend of the not so hidden temple

DESPERATE MAGE HERE:

I am level 80, gear level 415, SS 2000, crit 1714, and I cant beat this temple. I have watched every u-tube on it I found. solo temple, mostly following maps. only came to one fight. every u-tube show the fight progressing and then my men telling me to go get the item while they hold off the enemy. at that point I would break off and go for the item.

Problem is, there is an explosion and we fail. on u-tube the enemy is not defeated before main man is sent for item. we take the 2 enemy down about the same as seen on u-tube, but we die in explosion before they can send me.

can someone PLEASE HELP. i cannot continue until i finish this quest. thank you.

Do you know whats casuing the explosion?

One thing I can think of is that certain attacks might be triggered if the enemies reach a certain HP-value, so: Are you attacking the enemies at all, maybe causing an explosion-attack that way?
Another (but more unlikely) idea would be that you're taking to long to reach that point, so: Is your time about the same as you've seen in those YouTube-videos?
One last thing I could imagine (but cant confirm and dont remember happening): Is the explosion being casted by any of the enemies and if so can it be interrupted? I'd watch out for that too.

If all of that fails, I'd consider filling a bug report - I recall that whole instances as pretty easy and dont remember it causing trouble to anyone I've spoken to so far.

(...also little pet peeve sidenote of mine: You have no men in that mission but are support by some pretty badass ladies!)

Looking at a video, it looks like there's a stack mechanic right before the end, you have to stand near the friendly NPC when there's a yellow arrow above.

I just want to thank Fawkes for taking the time to reply to my request for help. I watched the video so many times and missed the stack every time. As a melee, you would never notice it but as a mage you naturally stand back. I almost gave up the game out of frustration.

They seem to like harassing the friendly NPCs almost as much as the player in recent MSQ duties so I tend to stay relatively close to them out of habit now.

I suppose it's meant to condition people for the kinds of mechanics that are oft seen in trials.
