Lags
Good day.
For several days the game is giving hard spiky lags of 3-7s, happening several times each minute, making any content unplayable. The frequency of lags and their duration are dependent on actual time, being hardest at 17-21 GMT+0 and nearly non-present at 2-4 GMT+0.
This issue appeared in October somewhere between 5.10 and 10.10. Was fine 5.10 and was already terribly laggy 10.10.
Extra info.
Light Datacenter, Lich server.
Running windows 10 x64.
No changes on local network in relevant time interval. May have been a windows update.
Other MMOs are fine. Speedtest to Frankfurt done at 14.10 is here https://imgur.com/a/pKSqhEF
Suggestions offered at somewhat similar post did not help http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post5198682

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
The way you describe it, it sounds like you are running into some congestion on your way to the game server. This would explain why it's only happening during certain times of day. This would be independent from the speed of your internet. While there is little to be done about this, we can give some suggestions to help strengthen your home network.
1) If you are using a wired connection, try using an Ethernet cable to connect directly to your router.
2) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.
3) Also try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Thank you for the reply.
1) I'm using cable
2) These ports are open.
3) Clean boot did not help.
Evening lags are still here. Any more suggestions?

Mortou, good afternoon and thank you for the reply.
Have you tried changing the Internet Explorer settings? If not, please try the following:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

Thank you for the reply Mortou.
As mentioned earlier, it's possible you are running into routing issues along your way to the server. This would explain why it only happens during certain times of the day. Since the troubleshooting provided does not affect the issue, I'd recommend contacting your ISP and making a report with them.

Yeah. Did testing this evening. It is a routing issue sadly.

hi I am having the same problems as mortou does.
how can we resolve this problem? I think contacting our ISP is not a solution.
I cant imagine how it will go. Like, hi! i cant play FFXIV. I am pretty sure the agents would not even know what FFXIV is.
C'mon please help us out on this problem.
