Arcanist help! Aetherflow?

I’m new to this class and it’s pretty fun so far! I like the challenge! However, I ran into something I found odd though while doing the lvl 5 class quest. The quest giver mentioned something about Aetherflow. I checked my Actions and Traits, and the skill/ability isn’t there. I then looked at some guides that are probably dated but it shows the skill was supposed to be learned at lvl 6... and I’m at lvl 11 at this point. Im currently doing the ARR MSQ on my main job, but I do have the Shadowbringers expansion. I don’t know if that has anything to do with this though. Please help explain if I did something wrong!

Don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong. I actually redid that quest last night on an alt and noticed the same thing - she used to recommend "Aetherflow and Energy Drain" (in the old system, you cast Aetherflow to gain charges for special skills, and Energy Drain used those charges). They've half-edited it but messed up the recommendation.

"Miasma and Bio" probably would be a good substitute with the spells currently available at that level. For bigger high-HP enemies in particular, make sure you're casting both those spells on it for damage over time. It doesn't matter so much for small enemies that die in a few hits.

Ahhh thank you!!! I was getting concerned with it to be honest ^_^; Ok, so I’ve been doing the right thing then. Phew! I usually start with Bio and then cast Miasma, and use Ruin and my summon as well as it’s attacks and dot skill. Thanks again for the clarification!

At level 18 you will unlock Energy Drain that gives you two stacks of Aetherflow. At the same level you learn Fester, which uses those stacks to cast.
