Art commission, with In-Game Payment (Gil)

(i don't know what other thread to put this in so sue me)


I was wondering if anyone does art commissions for in-game payment rather than out-of-game payments. Obviously I'm doing this because irl I'm a little poor at the moment.

As for the whole picture thing I'm sure someone would for enough gil, just depends on the quality and amount of gil you're prepared to spend (and time waiting perhaps lol).

Since it's specifically gil and not real money might have better luck advertising via party finder, discord, or perhaps a ffxiv sub reddit of art (being clear in the info that it's for in game money only). Might save a lot of people's time by saying how much you're willing to spend as well (500 gil for your finest stick figures~!)- and when you get inquiries probably ask for some past example work and then communicate through them via those means (like if they link a twitter, talk to that twitter)... At least if you get scammed then you know you were actually dealing with a specific person lol.

Rather than me saying "yeh I'll do it for 250k, here is my awesome art work [link someone else's stuff]" and never giving you anything and you're not even sure you actually talked to the artist or not.

Making a clear agreement and terms without being overly wordy like half my posts ;).

Not saying don't look here but I get a feeling it wont be very productive or welcomed (especially if it gets frequent with other people following suit), soliciting work/s tends to not go down very smoothly here and I imagine moderators would start to do something if it turns part of the forum into that.

So that's that then though.. Can't officially trade gil for art lol. Seems a bit ...meh.. I guess, but maybe there is some legal thing they wanted to avoid and it's easier this way when things get reported like "they promised me huge soft luscious eyes and these are so flat, I want a refund" and GM is like "............/facedesk".

At least so long as people are not trading it for cash I don't really, personally, care what they do with their gil. Could go to the mall and trade gil for hugs, whatever lol. But yeah, don't get in trouble for something as silly as that XD.

Correct, with emphasis on "officially". There have been Party Finder listings with Twitch links that offer free drawings but include ads for real money commissions as well as requests for donations on the page and then of course you have the ever-present content sales for real money. Nothing has been done about those.

0.0011% chance someone will do that for you for gil. You either got cash or it’s no deal. Just being honest.

My guess if someone were to take in game gil for their art either it is not very good or they are a sucker. In my opinion of course.

blech. oh well. so much for that then xD

why even need one to draw your character when can just take a screen and use photo shop.
