Kek. That's hilarious to me as well. Scholar, the giant nerd of final fantasy who spends all their time reading and learning is now the only class to straight up forget abilities and strategies it had

I know you can do the math problem that way but this is the math we're teaching now.

Scholars have been indoctrinated by Bitoso, infected by a modified form of Green Death that affects the mind :3. As the sickness spreads their delusion that they can commune with faeries grows, yet they forget their actual skills.

You could contrive any number of lore-friendly, hand-waving reasons why. For example, my headcanon is that as a Scholar, we realize that long-term use of Bane puts undue stress on our bodies and causes destabilizing effects with respect to our affinity for sustaining the Fairy. The effects thus far have been too subtle to realize hence why we abruptly stop being able to use it. For Summoners, they have a higher affinity towards DoT spells and thus found ways to mitigate this effect, or perhaps Egis are not subject to the same deleterious effect of bane usage *shrug*.
