As the title says. It seems like an extremely cheap tactic to run under the platform and fire the missile. It should damage the oppressor as well being that close, or ,preferably, do no damage to the core because it missed and only hit the underside of a platform.
as hilarious as enabling friendly fire would be (maybe then people will FINALLY learn to to waste time & CE by tring to use an opp against other players or mechs), I don't see it ending any well.
Also personally I think if someone manages to sneak an opp down there they deserve to get some hits on the core, since having too many defense options can at worst lead to games stalling out
You do significantly less damage to the core from hitting it from down there (7% vs. closer to 20%), so it seems like a fair trade-off, honestly.
It's not actually much safer down there outside of the fact that people are less prone to noticing an oppressor going that way. You don't have to expose yourself to cannonfire at all by going down the lanes if you stay on the edge of the lane furthest from them.
You don't have to get hit by cannon fire if you're in mid either. You can position an opp just out of range of the cannons but still be able to hit the core from below.
