I begin with my theory why was Zodark imprison. picture what Emet Siyk word be true let suppose that Zodark was give 1/3 of they inhabit to make they planet capability of support life again. first it was they who tried to reach and rewrite the laws of they world it was their who decide to play God.

Theory by feed Zodark 2/3 of their inhabits they made Zodark cravery live Aether by Hydrylian be created those who creater her made her as counter-balance to Zodark instead offer part of they race they offer themselves. my theory is that warrior of light were amoung those who offer they life force to creator Hydylian some have argue we should fight hydylian my question to them would you fight your own mother.

in the desire to sacrifice the piece of soul of warrior of light were separate amoung the shards each time a Calamite happy a warrior of light arouse to prevent it yet one must ask is those 7 shards of the calamite hydylian to bring back the one gave her life.

when a player start out they start in sea of aether if my theory is correct this were hydilyan has restore you to life.

the issue I have with people suggest fight hydylian is that this goes against all the ffxiv lore and expansion have set down we know Hydylian isn't evil and she some how gave us life so what reason doing we have to fight her. we know that ascian are zealous gencidal being the risk all of life to restore what they once hand by feed it to Zodark. since this were my theory Zodark desire for live aether, some would argue we should be able weild both darkness and light these being are oppose force. I think instead called the darkness and light I give their correct name Good and Evil. Zodark is Evil as are ascian, Hydilian is good gave us life in sea of aether.

let me put this a way people would understand light and dark in ffxiv are like to elemental on elemental table the inact in wrong way like vigor and Bakery sodam.

the warrior of light on first act as way storage light till it could use as she need to be use to destroy hades which toke all extra aether to doing. we learn hade was respondible for first issue with to much light aether in fact there was no involvement of Hydylian in first she on source

I hope that this does not sound mean yet I really had a hard time reading this post (especially since english is not my mothertongue).

So what exactly is the main point behind your post?

Is it that Hydealyn cant be evil? I am really not sure because the post is a bit all over the place.

1. Yes a part of the ancients fought against Zodiark and thus created Hydealyn because they did not want even more sacrifice of future lifes. Zodiark himself (depending on how much of a own free will he has) was created because of the calamity which would have destroyed their race so I am not 100% blaming them for that. We do not know why the 14th even left. Maybe they had another plan to stop it or maybe they just disagreed with some parts of the summoning...like tempering people. Zodiark himself was at that state no problem (if he had no "evil" intentions)because he just did his job. If the Ascians had just accepted the sacrifice then all might have been well. (Also 50% of the remaining survivors were sacrificed to stop the calamity and another 50% to change the planet back.)

I do agree that it could be that Zodiark got his own free will or maybe that being created at a time of despair and with the souls of people that have gone through such trauma let to him being less good. Maybe he wanted more aether after tasting it for so long (and being kinda done with his tasks) and told the Ascians that he would give the souls back for more sacrifice but would have never done so. Or maybe the Ascians simply believed that he should be able to do that and decided on that plan on their own.

2. There is a good chance that the WoLs were the summoners of Hydealyn back in the ancient times because there seems to be something special about them. I also agree that I dont see Hydealyn as being evil. Yoshida himself stated that people should not jump to conclusions just because we heard the Ascians side and that we should get her side too and some parts of the game like "Answers" are from her view which shows good intentions. And since the WoLs can go against it also seems to hint that there is no tempering involved with her either. The only good reason for me to go against her (if she stays good) would be, if she takes too much aether and will in time endanger us too. But seemingly right now there is nothing in the story (imo) that hints at her being dangerous to us.

3. Even though FF14 does not portray that greatly (imo) Light and Darkness are not Good and Evil. Its just the people that are using it that are either good or bad. (I just wished that we had more parts in the game were we used Darkness for good and Light for evil..because having the main enemies just using Darkness, while we still helped the first with Light, really gives it a different spin)

Theory: Zodiark was summoned as the will to the planet, and the planet basically willed their creation magics to go out of control because the life stream need life to return to it and disperse into energy for multiple new lives (Flora and Fauna) and further propagate the lifestream's continued growth as per FF7. Ascians being near immortal don't like return to the earth and continue to spread and live for centuries to millenia which would strain the planet's lifestream similarly to how mako reactors did in FF7. Thus Zodiark may have had the thirteen council members sacrifice there own to restore the lifestream and the planet's ecosystem in phases that would have eventually sacrificed all Ascian live to begin anew.

Certain Amourati were like "nope, we're totally smart enough to know what your doing, and we're not going to let sacrifice any more" and just split everyone's souls so that their life energies would more rapidly return to the life stream until the splitting of the Ascian's souls becomes permanent and actual new souls can form. Though, this has probably like already happened to some degree, and will continue until all of them are permanently broken. But, Zodiark's mass-genocide is like way quicker for the planet to heal and Hydelyn is like the selfish human answer.

question whether or not Hydealyn can be good or evil is interesting one through the way ffxiv shadowbring seem to reveal that she isn't evil or game lore or story show she isn't evil. she won't send her voice to stop the light for consume the first now would she. we haven't seen any evidence to show any evil in Hydealyn have we. by ascian view hydealyn. where the you have wrong Hydealyn was creator to protect the new life that be creative which erozath races are part of that new races that where creative. I think sin of ascian were the belief they could control abiltiy to create life and be god in fact by creating Zodiark

it more like we see new life be born we can't let you destroy it so we give are lives to protrect this new life and create Hydealyn to stop Zodark. Zodark was infact the selfish view mind you. while Hydealyn isn't

the ascian chosen to create Zodark and chosen to destroy they people for their goals to further they own goals yet their action cost them.

let me use an example of the really world, if I murder millian to save the world for global warming does that make it right. yet amoung those millian one could come up with technology to save earth without murder those millian to do it does that make it right.

in same way by mass-genocidal large groups of people to so called save the world still won't be right. by them tried written the laws of they world the cost the world millions of live of the fellow ascian they action create the mess in first place and they kept tried give life to set it right with their action

when come to my theory it more of Zodark become hunger for living aether because the ascian kept feed living aether to him think they fix the problem.

they saying two wrong doesn't make a right. in this case the ascian kept doing wrong thinking they action would fix the problem

I guess the best example of Zodark is a drug addict let suppose Zodark became addict to living aether. so imprison him was correct course of action

I think the game is positioning Hydaelyn and Zodiark to be almost beyond good and evil. They are summoned entities that perform specific functions - the good and the bad doesn't really come into it.

Zodiark was summoned to restore the world for the Ascians. He was trying to do what he was created for.

Hydaelyn was created to balance him. That is confirmed in the conversation with the Word of the Mother. When he disrupted the balance, she attempted to stop him and thus shattered reality. What we don't know is why Zodiark attempted to disrupt the balance. I think that potentially he went after the aether of the created races and as such she had to retaliate.

Interestingly, if you assume that the number of sacrifices is directly linked to levels of power, then Zodiark should be more powerful that Hydaelyn by many magnitudes. That suggests to me that either Hydaelyn got lucky or those that summoned her had another trick.

I would theorize, that the Ascians that summoned Hydaelyn where the same Ascians that took a notion for creating life. We found out that the Ascians basically created all life on the world. Would it therefore be so hard to assume that in order to protect their creations, those that summoned Hydaelyn gave their lives and also linked their creations to her - giving her increasing power over time? I mean, it would kind of fit. With each rejoining, the population of the Source and the rejoined world is significantly reduced. If Hydaelyn's power is connected to the amount of life on the world, then her power diminishes with each rejoining.

Hydaelyn had the power to enervate (i.e. weaken) her foe by splitting the target's essence in two, as Emet explains to us before our return to Eulmore. In their final encounter, she used this power on Zodiark, 7 times in quick succession so that all of the strikes acted upon the same initial entity, and thus divided him into fourteen, with each shard of himself being weak enough that she could bind them individually. Its just that the 7-fold blow (or the Kick, as depicted in the Qitana Ravel) she landed also managed to hit almost everything else and had the same effect. We don't know if this was because Zodiark was 'the will of the planet' and thus intrinsically tied to it, or something else planned by Hydaelyn's creators.
