24-man content and rotations

As someone who loves the alliance raids it's kinda crummy to run them with a limited skillset.

And at this point they are pretty much just used to kill time, so why not let players use their full skillset in them? It would be perfectly fine to even neuter the skills so they dont hit as hard as long as we have a full set, especially with content like the moogle treasure stuff going on(syrcus all day anyone?). Actually they would need to be limited cause a lower level tank would panic with an army of black mages nuking the land.

the content is already a faceroll so why not let people use it for muscle memory practice, plus unlike dungeons theres not many of these so it wouldnt be crazy hard to balance out, I guess for a lvl 80 player i'm looking for more outlets to be able to see my full layout and alliance raids are perfect because of the length and how much is going on.

what do you guys think?

I think that allowing the use of a full level 80 rotation in the likes of any of the Crystal Tower raids would make them even more laughable than they are now. And that’s saying something.

The Nier raid will be releasing soon for you to use your 80 rotation in.

i ran labyrinth of the ancients last night and wiped on the final boss, no matter what, overeager groups will always cause some trouble, but why not let people go full throttle in those places.

if you looked at roulettes, other than expert theres no guarantee you'll see your full rotation, so why not choose alliance content? which as you say is already laughable.

That happens because people get in the mindset of completely zergjng the boss and ignoring mechanics—exacerbated by the fact that most of the mechanics in the Crystal Tower raid series are inconsequential already. Allowing for more potential for zerging seems like it would encourage this “screw mechanics and burn the boss” mentality.

As I said, the Nier raid will be releasing within a few weeks. Perfect place to practice your 80 rotation. Likewise, you’re also able to get Eden Normal mode raids in your Normal Raid Roulette. Additionally, they will eventually be adding in level 80 trials that will be able to pop via Trial Roulette.

There’s plenty of places to practice your full rotation if you go looking for them. I don’t see the need to have to worry about balancing level 80 rotations in sub-80 content when this game can’t even balance level 80 jobs in level 80 content.

The Nier raid will absolutely be the testing ground for that. I'm expecting many juicy wipes on the first one and wondering what the Hashmal equivalent is for it.

So expect to learn your rotation amidst some wacky Yoko Taro shenanigans,

Your claim that this content is just used to kill time leads me to say I think you're neglecting the people the content is designed for, players who are level 5x, 6x and 7x.

No amount of potency adjusting will take away the severe disadvantage non-level 80 characters will face by simply not having access to skills. Imagine being a level 50 Scholar and all you have is Physick, Succor Adloquium and Lustrate and your counterpart has all this, plus the full fairy set, excogitation, indomitability, Seraph etc

For sure, we could just unlock the entire skillset for new players in these instances, but why should new players be forced into running before they can walk?

You will have the next 2 years where content to satisfy your requirements of level 80 gameplay will be added

I think you are severely underestimating how much work would be necessary to balance this. Pick any job. At level 80, that job will need to be balanced and tuned to be equal to the new level 50/60/70 player. Full rotation, full kit, everything available. First of all, the 80 player has to do more work just to stay average with the low levels.

But more importantly, it's not just 80 you have to balance. You'll also have to balance 79, before you get that final piece of your kit. Output at 79 vs output at 80 is going to be a little different. And then you'll have to balance at 77/78 when you get some other trait, 75ish for another skill, etc etc. Every step of the way, every time the job is improved or changed at all as you're leveling. Every single additional trait and skill. Needs to be balanced, such that a player in the 60s or 70s, not just at level cap, is equal to the new players running content at-level.

It's not as easy as just tweaking some potencies, turning a few knobs, tuning HP a little different, etc. Rotations change throughout the leveling process. Skills are buffed, cooldown reduction traits, extra potency. Nearly every level, or at least every few levels, of every job, would need to have unique adjustments to keep higher level players balanced.

And that's an awful lot of work, compared to just syncing players down to be the appropriate level with skills and rotations and kits that are (meant to be) already adequately balanced for the intended content.

That's where you are wrong. It was never designed for that. Back in the days when level 50 was the endgame the classes played very differently and had different skills. They actually had a proper rotation back then.
Now even if you gear down at minimum level it just isn't the same anymore.

Yes I remember it. I also remember how the level 50 ones used to have 2 tanks per party and that all the offtanks had to hold a tower at the Behemoth boss.

My point is that it is levelling and progression content, not content aimed towards people level 80 with nothing to do. The only caveat people at level 80 have for running this, is that they are actually handsomely rewarded with regards to tomes, probably moreso than any other roulette

The bigger problem is lack of extreme mode and having them be 10 months apart if separated by expansion, and only 4 bosses each.
