Dyes, Glamour Dresser, and Glamour ideas

I'm not sure where I'm supposed to put this so I'm putting it in general discussion.

The main problem: Current Glamour system does not encourage diversity and creativity despite improvement from old system.

Specific problems and ideas:
1- Dyes take up too much inventory space!!!
This discourages people from stocking up non-mainstream dyes. Lessens experimentation and diversity in final glamour.
1/4 of my current inventory is swamped by nothing but dyes. Seriously.

2- Not enough slots in glamour dresser!
It's only suitable for like, 2-3 classes. Maybe 4 if you are ... selective about what gear you store, but it discourages experimentation and creativity from using less mainstream clothing pieces (which you throw away to make room for "better" pieces).
I have dozens of slots just for my shield collection. Will I ever use them? Absolutely not. But can I bear to throw away the unique and memorable shields? No.

3- Gear in glamour dresser cannot be sorted...
One cannot sort gear by whether they are usable for your current class, level, in-game gender, race (not a big problem for now).
My eyes just gloss over from all that gear and sometimes I forget what gear I have.
Fashion-wise, you cannot sort gear based on whether they are long-sleeves or short-sleeves, are dress, covers how many body-slots with their visuals, etc.

4- Idea for Gearsets and Collectability
Some sets of gear from dungeons etc. work best if you have the full set.
But currently there is no way to know if you are missing few items, have some items or not, or have a full set. For each and every class.
Bonus idea, if you get the full set, they become dyeable.
And collecting enough sets will unlock special items from fashion report boutique. And achievements.

5- On Interchangeable gear, and Merging gear
Not a problem, just thought I'd mention.
Some gear have exact same models as others. There is no way to distinguish except eyeball everything manually, to prevent wasting glamour dresser slots.
An idea to address this is to make some gear, once inside the glamour dresser, to "merge" with their main trees, or even main sets.
So a whole set will only take one slot, dyeable and undyeable versions of gear will only take one slot, and as an example, the two fireglass vests atm will only take one slot (though you will have to buy both).
Then, you can freely change the "optional looks" of a gear from a sub-menu tree within the glamour dresser, for much better organization and parallel comparison, with gear from the same expansion, same thematic lore, etc.

So just lots of room for improvement and immersion.

I mean glamour system as a whole needs a big rework.

It's late here so I'm not going to write a long reply, but I don't think "lack of creativity" is directly linked to the system or the number of slots you have.

You can't store everything in the dresser, but that means you need to be selective about what goes in. Put the "unlikely to use" stuff in a retainer if you can't bear to part with it.

A lot of the "creativity" part doesn't require dresser space at all - just visiting the various vendors with unique items.

Agree!

There just isn't enough room. I've been playing for all of two months now and my glamour plates are all used.

Between me and my four retainers, my armory is 3/4 full and I only play BRD/BTN. Granted I need to sort it, but still. (FWIW, I buy or grind the next set of gear for my retainers early so I can change it as needed.)

With all these jobs on one character, we need more space. I think the actual player inventory is fine; it's the glamour chest and armory that lack enough room.

And the whole system could be a bit simpler imho, too.

You have the preview system. This is why I don't stock any dyes on myself except soot black or snow white. You should sell your dyes and use your gil as the storage for them because you can always just rebuy them on the market when you need them and save your inventory space.

They need to let you store all mogstation glamours, reward glamour, and glamours from achievements. About time they let you use any job glamour or another job. Really like to glamour some healer glamour on my rdm.

I tried what you suggested, now I can't even be bothered to make glamour sets anymore. Too lazy to retrieve everything from my retainer which is 10 feet away from the dresser, much less teleport to and back from a mb.

On a side note, the "interchangeable and merged" gear idea could be used to address this here:

How did you even make it through Shadowbringers if 10ft and instantaneous teleportation is such a trial?

Things I'd like for it, in order:

Glamour dresser has options for sorting, moving stuff manual, filtering items, etc.

Everything is "in there" by default but greyed out, adding the actual item to it simply unlocks it. Would be handy for previewing stuff I don't have and seeing where to get it from. Obviously a nightmare without filtering and sorting, hence why this is the 2nd suggestion.

Dye storage, seeing as I handle all my glam through the dresser it would be nice if it had a dye tab and I could just dump pots and pots of the stuff into it instead of carrying it around.

It's renamed to some sort of generic "work desk" type deal and I can sit at it and handle everything. Check my retainers, put some stuff up for sale, buy dyes and gear and stuff from MB, cut my hair, review my journal cutscene thing, etc. Not mega important but would be really convenient.

Remove the silly job restriction on glamour.
