How to fix the Housing Issue, at least in my opinion

The housing in this game is mediocre. That's no secret. It's not as terrible as some would say, but it has a lot of kinks to work out- that sadly, haven't been since PATCH 2.1. Yeah, pretty sad when you put it that way. But in my opinion, the housing issue only comes down to a few things.

One; Lighting.
Especially if you wanna add some semblance of structure to your house, with different shapes and rooms, this one thing will be the thing to end your plans. The fact that only one Chandelier can be used per floor, with other light sources being EXTREMELY weak is... pretty bad. Simple solution- Make chandeliers furniture like other things, and allow them to be moved around. It's literally that easy.

Two; Partitions.
Working with partitions is just... horrendous. Considering the fixed shapes and lengths, it's difficult to make things work and look good. And that's not to mention the horrendous overlapping between partitions if you have to place multiple in a smaller area to fill out a very specific length. And then there's angling them correctly. Ugh.
Solution? Don't make Partitions furniture. In housing mode, you should be able to go into 'Room-edit mode' where you're given a basic overview of the house. With this overview, you can create an anchor point on a wall, which starts the partition. From here, you can click where you want to create another anchor, where you can start the next portion of the wall. You should be able to create different shapes, perhaps rounding out angles with a mini-anchor that you drag to change the roundness, something like that.

Three; get rid oF THE PILLARS PLEASE AAAAAAAAAAAA
Seriously. The wall pillars. Ruin. Everything. They ruin partition placement, furniture placement, lighting, any sort of semblance of symmetry, EVERYTHING. Just. Remove them. The pillar items exist and they should be used to create them manually. I can not stress this enough, even if ONLY THIS CHANGE was made it would make a PHENOMENAL difference in the quality of the game's housing.


At first glance, one would wonder how this would fix anything. These few, although very specific, issues pretty much make creating structure to your house an impossibility, by pretty much asking 'symmetry? what's that?', by making successful lighting impossible, and by making clean walls equally impossible. So just... these three things. Fix them and we will literally all love you. Please YoshiP just grant us your benevolence this once aaaaa
