So basically bored, and yes its another thread about smn, I am out of town so not playing and decided on sharing my imagination on SMN.
A lot of ideas I read from other comments on the forums so I want to group together a potential summoner with some more integrated support. Granted may be op, but feel free to state your opinions. May be a confusing read :).
Here it is:
Bringing back Aetherflow (3 uses, 30s cd) - allows us to cast instant gcd - pain flare and fester. (no longer ogcd)
Ruin III remains the same, Ruin 2 the same (but not dot based), Tridisaster remains the same, but ruination gives a 5% pet attack potency buff (wyrmwave etc.)
All pets attacks are tied in with smn gcd casts.
Basically - three different 30second cool down egi assaults I, II, and III (1.5 second cast 2.5 gcd - allows time to throw enkindle). This will be Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan respectively.
Casting an egi assault summons respective egi for 30 seconds.
Enkindle is 10 second cooldown, lower potency will need to weave aetherflow skills to use these with egi's
Ifrit - single target purposes, has a 30s 2% crit buff. Allows us to cast festerruins, and a second cast attack which could be 20 potency more (also dot dependent). (basically will be casting 1 and 2 back and forth, use fester/painflare then enkindle etc.)
Garuda - aoe attacks, summoning refreshes dots. Our skills will be Outburst, and 2nd class skill is an aoe that is dot dependent
Titan - single target attack, will result in dps loss, however utility summon, each attack titan does creates a 1% shield, and when summoned creates a raid wide dmg reduction buff of 3%. Cast damage will also be dot dependent, but not as strong as Ifrit.
Bahamut trance - integrated demi-Bahamut summon (we cast Ruin IV and Deathflare), similar to Phoenix except casts Devotion on summon (maybe change the name)
Trances cd won't essentially begin until the trance finishes, therefore need to cast 2 egi assaults before the next trance.
Phoenix trance - keep as is.
Now not sure if this smn is worse than current, but I feel we are more tied to our summons, and less ogcd weaving.
Maybe makes it boring to play, I dunno? What you guys think?
Btw I do like current smn, and will be playing regardless of future patches.

Tbh there’s only a few things that put me off playing summoner in SHB.
Pre-pull set up, this feels horrid and most people just do not wait on it, espically beneath savage content. It needs to be removed. Timing a big cast to go off at the same time as the pull is fine. But past this it’s irritating.
Pet swapping. I might just not love pets enough to appriecate this, but it’s tolerable so not my biggest complaint.
And I think it’s been named by most. The sheer quantity of OGCDs and more you have to hit between your rotations. In groups and stuff it’s fine. But when ur going into harder content you feel it’s burden. -

Ah yes, the infamous tank pet that literally struggled to do just that, not to mention you can't tank anything with a demi-pet out. Don't think devs have any reason to revert pets back to being targetable.
