Anyone else feel that tanks keep getting screwed form a aesthetic skills standpoint.

They ruined gunbreakers sounds.They seem to take alot of cool looking/feeling shit away from tanks. Like moves from enmity combos. I get they wanted to streamline tanks but they took some of the coolest looking moves away from tanks. Like Pally rages of halone/savage blade combo, warriors butchers block combo. dark knight got screwed the worst imo opinons. it felt awesome to play in heavensward, then they took away powerslash,spinning slash, old school delirium and scourge, which were amazing looking and feeling but of course they had to strip all the cool shit.

They could atleast make ability glamours.

I think every job gets screwed in that regard. DRG lost the pole spin AOE which is a lot cooler than doom spike, BRD lost the purple aoe which is cooler than quick knock. I agree with you on an ability glamour type thing, but it would be tricky since some players communicate with each other based on their job skills. Some skills do flow more with eachother though, like I felt savage blade and royal authority fit more together than it does with riot blade. But I think I'm just biased since I don't like riot blade's animation at all.

I feel like they're trying to keep the number of skills per class, or at least the number of buttons, down to around 32.

During Stormblood I got into the game for the first time, played on controller, and discovered I could stack my cross bars and double tap L2 or R2 to access the stacked set respectively. This gave me access to 32 skills on screen.

Then Shadow Bringers was announced and I wondered how this system would continue to work. Would I need a third crossbar? Turns out what they did was remove some skills all together, have other skills get upgraded after lvl 70, and other more standard tweaks. They kept the skills to about 32 and I didn't need to add a third cross bar.

Tanks have awful animation flow at the moment. There are plenty of nice animations in the game, and they choose these that create lots of clipping. And just some would be better (like Rage of Halone > Royal Authority). I think that DRK has the best animation flow, at least when we don't use Delirium.
GNB has very good animation flow, but sfx is awful. I bow down to everyone who unironically plays this job right now.

The most optimal solution is a skill glamouring system, but even this has problems. Because not all animations are the same time length, skill glamouring could result in there being a BiS skill glamour (shortest animation) to reduce on clipping from double weaving oGCDs if animation times are not adjusted.

I don't mean to be a killjoy, because I would like to see a skill glamour system myself, but there are far more important matters for devs to spend time on right now. Class balance, new content design, bug fixing, and RWT reducing activities are much more deserving of dev time right now IMO.

I would be happy just to have DRK not look like it's struggling to lift its sword half the time.
