DNC suggestions.

Hello all! I feel like some minor changes to DNC would be very beneficial.
Currently, when using either Standard or Technical Step, we must dance our way through 2/4 moves, Emboite, Entrechat, Jete, and Pirouette.

I propose we change the way Steps work by giving different minor buffs/debuffs based on the combination of dances we choose during the steps. For example, during Standard Step, doing Jete + Emboite would give the party a slight skill/spell speed boost. It can also be slightly more potent for Technical Step or even combine 2 effects like Jete+ Embiote gives the skill/spell speed boost, followed by Entrechat+Pirouette which will give a minor Refresh effect. They can get creative with it but I would advise against damage boost/mitigation since we already have dedicated abilities for those buffs.

Also, giving each of those 4 dances a damage potency of 25-50 would be nice to help bring DNC's pretty low DPS up a bit.
The job needs a few things changed about it but I just wanted to try and find some fun/interesting uses for those dances which have absolutely no significance at the moment. It will also help DNC feel even more like a true support.

While i absolutely love the idea of different step combos giving different buffs/debuffs (come on... wasnt it originally a debuffing melee class?), how would you change the functionality of the finishes l? (considering they have their potency based off of hitting steps in the correct order, which goes against your cool idea of choosing your steps)

Id like it to be more free formed, but id say if you keep the finishes as is, i dont think you need to raise damage per step (as youll have more rdps providing an additional buff)

Hmm that is a good point. I guess we can just make it so that the Steps still give you the same maximum damage buff and do maximum damage, just without the dances you perform being important. It should be viewed as an all inclusive buff ability. You do your Step, then commence the dancing order of your choosing for a minor buff/debuff, and then you perform the Finish which then deals the damage and applies the current damage buff whilst also giving you the new minor buff/enemy debuff.

I mean the way it is now, even if you accidentally choose a different dance from the order required, you can just do the correct one right after. You're not penalized unless you finish the Step prematurely or you run out of time (duh) lol.

Also, currently, both DNC and NIN are quite below all other DPS in their damage output. Even when factoring in the rDPS. That's why I mentioned adding some damage to the dances so that you're not just wasting precious DPS up time.

More needs to be done to DNC. Specially changing/adjusting the RNG based BS we have to go through.

I believe this will never happen due to how they function since they are on gcd and reset the gcd to 1s and change 4 actions to different actions, this is asking for these skills and the ones they are tied to to be changed and as far as i've seen this is very low on wanted changes to dnc priority list. I'd rather see Sabre dance get made a ogcd with a 1s recast due to how rng it is to get, you can potentially cap stupidly fast and with it being gcd it feels awkward especially during flourish/technical window and you shoot up from 40 to 100 in a blink of an eye, you should not feel punished for getting lucky and atm Sabre dance can do that.

As for OP leave dances how they are but you could have improvisation or a new skill work with what your proposing, the final skill will either need a big enough dmg on it based on steps as well or buffs have to be BIG to warrant the downtime. As for trying to mitigate our rng i'd rather not on existing gcd skills baring sabre dance/Espirit we can ourselves, our fan dances could do with a boost to 75% chance still rng but much more consistent, if our rng mitigation improves too much we will lose potency somewhere currently that is what is holding us low.

This is pretty much how I feel also. Those dances are in the game purely for cosmetic reasons and it's lame lol. A new ability to make use for them would be a great alternative to my idea. I also agree with boosting Fan Dance RNG to 75%. Everything being at 50% drives me off the wall lol.

Having a bunch of different dance combos may be too similar to mudras and how different inputs make different ninjitsu.

But I wouldn't mind getting a third dance that shakes up the mechanic in some way and has some sort of buff/debuff other than boosting damage done. Maybe one that instead of burst damage puts out a dot or debuss the boss or something.
