Didn't make the cut.

So, here's my situation.

I'm a west coast player, it's hard to find late-night statics in the PST timezone, and even harder to find very late-night statics in EST, so when I can I try and get in. This was one of those statics.

They took me on for trial runs starting tonight, went ahead and joined and well- they decided to not keep me on, but I didn't really get any feedback. They were looking specifically for an AST, which I main, and understood I was entirely new to the fight, looking primarily for members that could learn the fight quickly. They listed themselves as sHC or MC. The fight was E2S, cohealing with a SCH.

I felt I did okay, some mechanics I messed up, others I saw once and never messed up again, and on some I never made a mistake. At this point I'm wondering what more I could've done, we were having issues with healing during some sections so I dropped DPS on one or two runs, I tried to use cooldowns as efficiently as I knew how, and still no luck.

But I'm feeling a bit discouraged at the moment, my first static didn't work out due to a time constraint mixed with a timezone mix up, and it took me a couple days to find this one, at this point I feel like just trying to PUG the fights.

Also, I'd really prefer to get advice from people with E2S clears, all the better if it's as an AST.

If you have trouble with your timezone, have you considered moving to another server were your playtime would be their evening?

For your raiding-situation, they probably had parser running and were seeing something they didn't like. If you have those files too you could maybe let someone look over them who knows how to analyse them accurately.

Yep, that's what I think too, they or even the co-healer saw something in their log because you need pretty good raid DPS to clear E2S. Sure it has a lot of movement, so decent weaving of healer dps is going to be required.

Thats a little rude, or at least you're reading it harsher than what I am. To me he's saying that people who strictly want an AST, don't know how end game raiding is working right now, if ever. AST is completely viable, but so are SCH and WHM and they fill their roles just fine. Nocturnal AST is accepted as generally weak compared to scholar. If I had to guess, I would say that the SCH wants to DPS and wants an AST to bend to all the GCD healing, where as with a WHM in party, SCH will have to put more resources into healing, since WHM pDPS is what makes their Raid utility.

If it was reversed and they already had an AST, looking for a SCH specifically, because the AST preferred to Diurnal, that would be an acceptable request.

I was hoping they'd be a bit light on the DPS requirements since I was fresh to learning the raid, but it's possible DPS meant more to them than I thought it would, I guess I'm mostly wondering if people are healing the raid a certain way that gives them more DPS uptime if that's the case.

Unneeded they are asking for help on improving themselves not for bashing a static they have no idea why they didn't make the cut.

Now more on topic which part of the fight have you been having trouble with? (only been up to double flares so can't help too much unfortunately)
If your pdps was a problem(progging it shouldn't) then that is something that would fluctuate by a group to group basis and much harder to improve consistently.

It seemed like on a lot of the stacks we'd lose a couple people, and the lead didn't seem to be sure if it was because of improper stacking or people not being topped off, and to be honest I'm not 100% on it either. By the time the group decided to retire we had made it to double flares with like- 4 or so people still up.

Could be anything... Maybe they expected more dps. Maybe they expected you to learn faster. Maybe they didn't think you were a good fit for non-gameplay reasons.

All we can do is speculate. What you can do is ask.
