RIP Ninja - 5.05

"Gust Slash Combo potency increased from 250 to 300."

That's the one and only change. Feel free to discuss whether you agree with this or not, I'm sure you guys have seen me avidly posting about this job for weeks here, but that's a wrap for me and NIN.

Really unfortunate decision by SE.

I'm...not sure how they thought this was a reasonable buff after seeing how loaded the MNK/SAM changes were by comparison.

I think I'm just going to switch to MCH now honestly.

Yeah, I got SAM and NIN to i444 and did Eden both weeks and saved up 5 pieces to redeem on whichever seemed to get better balance. I'm a NIN main at heart, but after seeing that I'm beyond frustrated and just going to bench it for Shadowbringers until they re-work the job next expansion.

I don't think the job needs a rework, it just needs better sustained DPS.

Potency buffs of this nature for all of their combo moves would've been more reasonable

If a job's highest DPS rotation ever mandates that you weave so many oGCDs that you have to clip, then the class needs help. NIN, afaik, is in this boat. SMN is also in the boat, kinda, but it has other, far bigger issues hurting it than clipping GCDs.

Yep, these were pretty lazy changes to most of the classes to say the least.

Now I'll give up on the ninja that I just leveled to 80 because it's impossible to properly play the class at 140 ping :/

Ninja is getting punished hard for having trick attack.

Personally I just think it needs a lot of changes, which is why I choose to say "rework".

I think Bunshin is a problem, Ninki capping at 100 and all abilities being 80 etc, Meisui wasn't innovative more than a nuisance, loss of dripping blades and not correctly adjusting our combo potencies, Fuma being useless, double-clipping still exists, Mudra lag still exists, too many oGCD's, TA still existing and balancing an entire job around one ability, etc.

It's fine though, I'm done stressing over it. Going to have fun on SAM and level MCH next to alt. This class isn't going to be concern for me anytime in the near future. I'm sure it'll get more adjustments in time.

I'm no main NiN but I think NiN's Rotation is kinda smooth as it is.
It's the self-dps potency that need to be buffed,I think.

We were always going to get quick, lazy changes. It's just frustrating when a class like Summoner, that has massive, glaring, flow issues, doesn't get anything that it actually needs, and just gets a minor QoL improvement that does nothing to fix the problems the job has, meanwhile AST gets some rather huge changes to a ton of abilities.

I imagine this just means they might have a stronger change planned for later, but until then the class is going to suck.
