Lag and Latency Issues
Hello,
A few months ago I got into this game.
At first I was playing on my Ps4 and was using the Wi-Fi to play the game.
I would constantly get lag, delayed inputs, and have error messages pop up often. Other player characters and enemies would often stop for a few moments, only to fast forward with numerous affects to spontaneously occur and ruin everything.
I managed to resolve this on my own by simply using an ethernet cable and using the Lan function and connect my Ps4 to my modem.
Ever since then I have had little to no issues.
If there was an error on screen, it was due to server crashes and DDOS attacks.
But this past week, all of that has changed. Even with my Ps4 being connected to my modem with the ethernet cable, I am now getting the exact same issues I had when I was running off of the Ps4's Wi-Fi system. The game is bordering on unplayable and it can be quite infuriating. I can't be bothered to suffer through it, especially after having already solved the issue before and managing to enjoy the game to the fullest.
The most annoying aspect of this issue, is that I seem to be the only person having this happen. Is it possible that the DDOS attacks that we recently had is ruining certain account connections in game? I am unsure what to do, since I have never had any real issues ever since I switched to an ethernet cable.
If there is any advice, I would appreciate as much feedback as possible.
Thank you for your time.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Lag and latency generally comes from two sources: a wireless connection (which you have already resolved) and a connection interference with the server. The latter can be attributed to a DDoS attack, as you have mentioned, but usually is the result of a routing or congestion issue while on your way to the server.
Unfortunately, this kind of situation is difficult to troubleshoot as the issue stems from outside of your home network. I'd suggest contacting your ISP and making a report with them.
