Why can't we just run Story dungeons with AI?

Seriously... I don't want to keep hauling ass through these dungeons, barely understanding what's going on and feeling awkward when I try to watch cut scenes. The people doing dailys don't want to take it slow, so new guy #500 they're forced to group with can really take in the experience. I'll be grouping and socializing eventually, but for this content they don't want to play with me and I don't want to play with them. Why the hell are we doing this?

It's not in any way difficult to add a couple generic AI's to these instances that auto-follow you. Over-level them a bit so the content is doable, and voila. I've never in the past played an MMO that forced this, and it's absolutely terrible.

I still remember my run of first msq dungon... the crap I faced simply for being new to it was staggering. Whole party whining about it. 1 person out of 7.

As much as I hate unskippable cutscenes a bit, I really really understand why they did it to stop that kinda harassment on new peeps.

He's not even talking about those. He's talking about normal dungeons that the story makes you go through.

It was a while ago since I did ARR storyline, but I don't remember any cutscenes being in any of those dungeons that would force people to have to wait for you, not outside of the first time you enter a dungeon and it shows the area, and the final boss encounter cutscene, outside of that there's a couple instances towards the end of the story in where everyone is forced to watch all the cutscenes regardless anyway.

Though I guess I understand you're not knowing what's going on bit to some degree, though the 1-50 dungeons are very simple for the most part anyway, if somehow you're confused then just check what dungeon "quests" as they say what you need to do for anything, be it grab a key or some other item, or to activate what ever it may be. If you really want to run some of them solo and with AI, you can technically do that anyway by using the command missions which you will eventually obtain by ranking up your grand company rank to a certain point.

There are 2 that I can think of. Last boss of totorak, and last boss of stone vigil.

For Cutscenes it has been mainly the opening and before the final boss. The Ifirit cutscene was particularly long. As for the objectives, it's not about getting confused. I'm sure the layouts were simple, I wouldn't really know; we sprint through the dungeons so fast I barely remember what they looked like or how they played. It was kind of a blur where I only have a vague sense of what we actually did. That's an extremely disappointing and underwhelming way to experience story content.

Appreciate the offer, but I don't really want to put anyone out and I tend to keep weird hours anyways. This is just how it's going to be I guess, I'm just giving feedback and venting.

If I can eventually redo these dungeons with Grand Company AI partners that's something at least.

When I run the leveling roulette and see someone in cutscenes, I'm pretty understanding about the new player experience they are going through. But I can't help but think the player still feels like crap for making me wait. I don't mind. I really don't. But it still isn't a good feeling for a player.

When I did the MSQ for ShB. I ran the Trusts for my first time through. That way I could just take a gander at the dungeon and take my time. It was great. I'd like to see this system be applied to all previous story dungeons as well in the same way. Including Praetorium and Castrum meridium. If it were possible I'd even suggest they do this for some of the trials.

There is one thing I do like about Trusts. It helps not have the immersion jarred so bad. You go in nearly instantly so the flow of the story isn't disrupted by a queue. And you get the full cinematic experience. And those of you who want tutorials so bad would be sated by the fact that trusts handle that very well.
